Has anyone here ever used a Crestron system to control a G90 via RS-232? Or know someone who has?
My Crestron programmer buddy is struggling to get my CP2e to talk with my G90. And he says that the serial protocol manual for the G90 is confusing. I'm thinking that someone must have made this work at some point. Can anyone here point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Tom. That's the same protocol manual that we've been working with.
But I hadn't noticed that Serial Protocol Setup Program before. That looks interesting. I will give that to my programmer and see if that will help us somehow.

Did you check the crestron yahoo group? They have alot of files posted for crt projectors. I found a barco module there, just loaded it into simpl windows and it worked perfect! No need for any custom programming.

I seem to recall that others have had this issue before with RS232 and the G90. If I recall (and I am NOT a big automation guy), the G90 can not be turned on through RS232. You must use an IR emitter with the Crestron to get things going on the G90... though I could be wrong.

Thanks craigr. I hope that's not the case, but it's good information anyway. I will concentrate on getting input switching to work before tackling power, just in case what you're saying is true.

There is a IR file in the Crestron data base. That and a stick-on LED over the IR input window and you're good to go.
Serial control without power on/off commands is useless. Serial control is the way to go if it gives you full control.
My 4600HD is under serial control via Crestron and it works sweet.

Thanks Chip. Even if we cannot power on the G90 via serial perhaps we can at least poll it for status. Although it's difficult to believe that they would design a projector with a serial port but not let you power it on that way. Then again, it IS a Sony
The G90 also has Control-S, so maybe we can make that work. If not then I will slap an IR emitter on there.

We managed to get serial control working last night. The PJ Serial Comm program did the trick. That little program generates the appropriate strings to send to the projector.
Thanks for the input, guys!
