Hi Folks,

I have a possible issue with my DC board on a G70.

I say ‘possible’ as I recently swapped out the DC board that failed (my 8K+ hrs original) for a 1K+ hrs ‘spare’ I bought from Terry.

When I first put the new-ish DC board in, it had some of these symptoms:

- Jittery red output, with the upper left of the crosshatch pretty distorted and jittery
- Red convergence way off in the corners
- G and B were perfect

But after an hour or so, settled in and ran fine for several hours and with only minor red-gun registrations tweaks, worked like a charm.

The following day, turned on, worked great for 8 hrs, then turned off.

The third day, it was back to jittery red-gun output and no amount of warmup or anything else helped.

So I’ve pulled the DC board, cleaned the contacts, pulled the little resistor daughter cards and reseated them, etc. Several times. No improvement.

The question is: is there a problem with something on the DC board still, or is there another part failing elsewhere in the unit?

Here are two screen-shots of the hatch pattern and of just the red gun:

That's the problem buying used boards. Regardless of the hour count, they can be bad, or even go bad in shipping. Now you have two bad DC boards. I've got the knowledge and parts to repair them. Let me know if you want to send one or both in for repairs.

So, it's still the DC board then?

If so, I'm packing them both up and mailing them Monday.

I'm sure it is, your pix point to it, and that's my educated guess. Email me at curtpalme@shaw.ca and I'll give you a link on how to send them in.

Cheers!
