Picked up a Barco 1208s for cheap today....any hardware updates available? It does come with the Iris3. But I'm wondering if I can add HDMI to it. And my next question is, how will this unit compare to a Runco DTV 933?

Get the HDFury2, that's the way to get HDMI into your set. You've got a late model 1208s there, the IRIS3 was the latest revision. CHeck your tube condition, and enjoy!

I suspect you are asking about HDMI standards which is currently 1.3a, the HD Fury model version is 1.51 and nothing to do with the HDMI standard. The HD Fury is compatible with HDMI 1.3 - see http://www.curtpalme.com/HDFury2.shtm for full details/specs.

What is the ART number on your Barco ?

How it compares to the Runco DTV-933, which is a 6PG Xtra made by NEC, is it scans to a higher rate, but is likely very slightly less capable of accurate color reproduction(assuming the reference mechanical white balance of the NEC is good) and the NEC *might* be able to focus a tiny bit better. Their basically the same "group" of projectors, same basic capabilities. The NEC is more compact, but noisier, the Barco is a lot bigger, and quieter...The NEC has no auto convergence options, the Barco IRIS3 barely works...(in my experience it is not very effective at producing a watchable result, no where near as good an auto convergence scheme as a Marquee...).

there are the Greg Eiesmann Mods that MadMrH likes. MadMrH( Andy) is a Barco expert in England and approves of Greg's mods.
And I would trust what Andy says.

Also Walt (WTS) retrofit a Moome marquee card I think, to his Barco(Zenith).

Aye, Paul's right.

I was referring to the Firmware. I get asked that question allot. Don't get too hung up on HDMI 1.3 support. None of the Bluray players do it. It's just a bit or marketing buzz.

Like the HDMI cables that were rated for 1440p. Yeah, ok. There's what I need. Laughing
