Hi,

I have used universal remotes like the Harmony remotes for years. However,... One thing that was always a little difficult to deal with was some buttons didn't work like the original remote. For example most projectors have directional or "arrow" buttons. When I first programed these they would send the code once instead of sending it the whole time I was holding the button down like the original remote.

I would tend to call Logitech about this and they would transfer me to "level 2" support and then they would fix it for me and they told me this was something I couldn't do myself.

Eventually though I discovered if you temp programmed the volume buttons as the arrows (like you made volume up send the arrow up key) then it would make this change for you. Afterwords you could change volume back to whatever you want but the arrow key would still work like on the oem remote.

This is hard to explain but I hope it makes sense to somebody. Let me know if you want me to try to explain it again.

When doing Geometry/Convergence you need the arrow keys to work like the oem remote so you can just hold the button down till things are right.

This is exactly why I just use my Harmony One for everyday use, but break out my Marquee remote if I need to tweak. I just found the Marquee remote to be better suited. Maybe I'm just used to it. Anyway, this is a good tip. This was one of the things that bothered me when trying to use the harmony for everything. Thanks for sharing!

One thing I have done with my harmony is to set the inter-key delay to 0 and the command repeat count to 0 for all devices.

Inter-key delay:
From the Devices page, click Troubleshoot next to a device. Select "xxx is responding too slowly." Click Next. Set the delay to 0 and then click through the screens to set and check the value.

Command repeat count:
From the Devices page, click Troubleshoot next to a device. Select "xxx responds to some commands either too many times or only occasionally." Click Next. Select 0 and then click through the screens to set and check the value.

This made my DirecTV DVR way more responsive than it was.

Yes, setting the speed settings is also essential.

This trick though with make the arrow buttons work like the OEM remote. For example to move the rasters with the center command you can just hold down the direction till they move far enough.
