solution one (better?)

so ive got a new idea and i was wondering if this would work

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HDMI-TO-COMPONENT-R-L-AUDIO-CONVERTER_W0QQitemZ190341334675QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item2c513a4693

http://www.projectiondreams.com/htmlpages/movie%20magic/MOVIEMAGIC_HDMI_COMPONENT_R_L_AUDIO.html

the box is quite expenisve but i saw a second hand one for 30 pounds also would need to get a hdmi splitter but would this work and would i get a picture on the recorder because of the hdcp

solution two

console component to hdpvr
component from hd pvr to converter box
vga to monitor

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Transcoder-HD-Box-1080P-HDTV-Component-to-VGA-Converter_W0QQitemZ220477874611QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item33558161b3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

would this work or other solution i think first idea is better because it wouldnt effect the image quality of the monitor because it couldnt be converted it may effect the recording picture dont i dont mind that much but will it work because of hdcp

thanks for yor time greets HDMIFreek

yes that would work but the product is 130 pounds im not spending 150(hdpvr) + another 130 for the hd fury just to record a game..

so would that 30 pound box work?

It would work if it does what the seller says it does. Or, it might be a total POS and have crap PQ - which not coincidentally, is pretty much what I'd expect at the price point they're selling it. Or, it might not work at all. Try it and find out. Let us know.

unless you think its worth setuping it up to play in VGA because of the lag input or is HDMI better?

The amount of lag completely depends on how good or crappy your LG can scale the picture. From what I've head some of the TV's are great at their native resolution and terrible at others. OR they lag bad on HDMI and component but not VGA or they are fine over component but lag over HDMI.

In other words you'll just have to test it for yourself and find out.

Test the component input for lag,
test the HDMI input for lag,
test the VGA input (if you have one ) for lag.

ViewSonic VX2260wm or LG Flatron W2261V

Why don't you just go component out from the 360 to the hd pvr, and then component from the pvr to the tv? Instead of converting the signal from hdmi to component. Seems like a lot of extra steps to me. Unless you are looking for 1080p, which I don't think the pvr can handle anyways, since it only has component connections.

Yep this is the cheap way to do it.

The picture quality will be better from HDMI. Provided that cheap HDMI to component converter HDMIfreak linked to works worth a dam.
