I was going through a box of stuff and found my old Dreamcast. I was thinking about hooking it back up to play a few retro games and wanted to see if anyone had ever extended the wire on a video game controller such as a N64, Dreamcast, GameCube controller? If I could extend the wire on the controllers, maybe 10 feet, I could put the Dreamcast off to the side of the room and just keep the controllers under a coffee table.

If someone has done this before what kind of wire did you use? I was wondering if something like Cat-5 would work. If anyone has done this, are there any issues with extending the wires on video game controllers such as a limit on how long you can extend these wires?

Just found one NIB. It's 6 feet long. Made my InterACT a Recoton company. They're the ones that made all the wireless speakers and headphones in the 1990's.

The date on this box is 1999.

Just like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-Controller-Extension-Cables-For-SEGA-DREAMCAST-NEW_W0QQitemZ250504098816QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item3a53353400#ht_2103wt_859

2 for $6.99! There's an extra 12 feet for you.

Thanks Analog, that is a great suggestion, I have never seen those before.

If I decide that I want to go with the "free" method of extending the cables myself does anyone have suggestions of what kind of wire to use? Any additional suggestions would be appreciated.
