I have a 50" Toshiba HD-DLP TV and am considering buying a Bluray Player. Will a 1080p Bluray work on my 1080i TV??

Sure will, you'll just need to set the players output to 1080i.

Yes, if you set the output of the BR to 1080i. If the set cannot accept a 1080p signal, then nothing external to the set (short of replacing the set itself) will allow a 1080p signal to be fed to a 1080i set.

Keep in mind though that 1080p is way overrated, a well set up 1080i projector (or RP set) will look just as good from 10' back as the latest 1080p set.

Does your TV have an HDMI input?

No idea, I'm not the guy to ask about that, I'm on the trailing edge of technology. If I know the reliability of DLP projectors/RP units though, your unit will be defective by 2012, so that's not an issue anyways. Smile

Perhaps someone else can answer about online rumors?

Then don't worry about it.

The manufacture's will be discontinuing analog ouputs for the HD signal's. HDMI is the new standard. There's a handshaking process that involves the EDID in the TV. ( Extended Display Identification Data ) where the bluray player will read the EDID in the TV during the handshaking process and see that its maximum resolution is 1080i. The Bluray player will limit its output to 1080i then.

Hi Guys,

sorry to hijack this thread. But i got my PS3 Slim yesterday and i got only 1 issue.

I hooked up the PS3 with hdmi to my Sony 1271 with the 1. Moome Card. Set the PS3 to 1080i and i only got the installation screen to work.

If i watch a bluray (Ice Age 3) the picture is going to run horizontally. Like there is a sync issue. If i connect the PS3 with (sorry guys) fbas, the picture is ok.
The Software is V.2.85

Before that, my pc was connected via hdmi to my crt. And all works perfect.

Please help.

HI Andy,
Go into the PS3's menu and turn off 24 fps.

See the how too here: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=14904.html

It's written for the HDFury but applies to the Moome card's as well.
