Hello guys,
After 2 months or so enjoying my Barco 701S I now have a problem.
It starter a while ago with the red channel. In the left bottom of the image the convergence was all **** up. I was unable to adjust this, the lines where simply in a strange bow.
After running about one hour (temperature issue?) the issue became a bit better.
So, after watching a movie for about an hour I simply adjusted the convergence just a little bit so it was acceptable.
After a while I figured out to set the image size bigger then the screen en just "cut off" the left part of the image - this was not perfect but ok.
Now, I just turned on the Barco to watch a movie, the red channel is all screwed up. The red image is about 20 cm higher then the green and blue and it is "moving" from top to bottom for about 5 cm. Also I noticed a bad smell coming out of the Barco (no smoke).
I have tried to take come pictures ...
Also a movie to show the movement...

Can somebody please help me?
I also have an Barco 708S ... I've gotten that for free for spare parts... what should I do?
Thank you so much !
A sad Cbx

Disconnect the whole convergence tray, all the yellow wires that connect top and bottom. See if the intereference goes away. I'lll bet it will. You'll also lose all convergence, but we're not concerned about that right now, just see if the red becomes stable.

Hello all,
First of all my apologies for my late reply. Some personal things came up with which I had to deal with first.
I am going to try to fix my Barco tomorrow and I have a few questions left.
* "Disconnect the whole convergence tray" - is that the convergence output board AND the convergence driver board?
* Can i "simply" replace these with the ones from a Barco 708 ?
* Is there any shock-hazard (after 24 hours without any current)
That's about it.
Thanks in advance,
A nervous Cbx.

Yes, disconnect all of them. Try the 708 convergence boards, I think they will work.

Oh. No shock hazard, it's all under 40 volts on that board.

Hi all,
After about 2 hours of sweating my Barco is back in business !
Works like a charm !
There was a bit of a problem putting the convergence boards from the 708 in the 701. It seems that the 708 has got a bit cooling "block" (not sure how it's called in English) on one side. After checking etc. I decided to take it off and put it in the Barco like the "old" convergence tray.
Everything works just fine, so I assume this is no problem. .. or is it?
Thanks again !
A happy Cbx.
Some pictures from the operation (poor quality)

Yes, the 708 did add that extra heat sink, not sure why, as the board doesn't really run hot, it's the HV leads arcing to the heatsink that causes the convergence board failure.
