Hi all,
I have a D50 with a brightness problem.
Running the CRT from a PC @1024x768 via 5RGB
the more white on the screen the dimmer the image becomes.
The brightness control makes very little difference.

Zooming the image smaller on the screen makes it brighter
zooming it larger makes it dimmer.

When watching tv the brightness level will change from scene to scene.

A quick search mentions changing the capacitors on the PA Board.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers
Rick

Are you sure you don't have the H and V leads switched around?

Tried swapping the H & V leads. No effect apart from no sync.
The brightness is there it just fades on certain scenes.

EG when selecting the em test pattern, the pattern is bright white but dims after
about a second.

This is usually a bad PA board or a bad CRT socket. BEst bet it to send all 4 boards in for testing and repair. $200-250 shoudl cover repair costs incl return shipping.

Have you tried with video memory off and/or ABG off? Also try different clamp setting. Otherwise send in some boards....
