Just turned on my Marquee, LVPS powered up, pressed power on the remote only to hear 2 very loud SNAP's Shocked

As the tubes were not lit up I quickly switched th Marquee off at the wall.

WTF!!?? Then, looking into the pj (its on a table at the moment) I noticed that I'd forgotten to plug the HV power cable into the splitter and it was dangling loose over the chassis (not actually touching anything). I'd disconnected it last night whilst changing a couple caps on the LVPS.

Arggh! I pulled all the boards and had a look for damage, much to my relief I couldn't see anything so I put it all back together, powered her up and all seems fine.

BUT!!!!! Did I just dodge the bullet or is there likely to be something waiting for me later???

Scared the sh*t outta me I must admit. I hate powering up a pj and hearing that HV sizzle at the best of times, ugh! (Although I was pleased to hear it a few minutes ago!)

I'd set aside this week to do the magnets, not even seriously touched them yet Sad

f*ck me, its going to be one of those days, I was just standing powering the pj off and then back up again. I was sort of half expecting the pj to snap and was wincing in preparation (eyes squeezed half-closed, balls shrinking, you kow what I mean).

Well, you can imagine the scare I got when the bloody cat crept in behind me and loudly me-owed just as I pressed power on the remote - f*ck ME, i must have jumped six feet up in the air!!!

I'm goin' to kill that cat!!!

get the cat to hold the EHT lead in case it touches anything else.

you are not alone. I once sent 32,000 volts down the video line to my DVD player by leaving the plug out.

Projector was fine.

You can probably guess the DVD player was not.

The EHT like lightening will have gone to the strongest earth point so probably the chassis.

I never disconect those leads unless i have to pull the HVPS or the tubes. Just leave the PJ off for 15 minutes and get to work.
Your lucky you didn't loose a HDM or VNB etc, or a frankenyoke!!!

Well, everything looks ok but I've not had time to play with it today, been out in the garden cutting the huge hedge we have. May well yet find that some of my hard work in the pj has been blasted to bits!

I think I can honestly say "lesson learned"!
