|
|
so I recently potted a LUG in MArquee housing with a brand new bellow. Had everything as clean as possible before hand, used new Techspray CRT coolant. Tube has been sitting in a machine for a couple of months. I fired it up and looked through the lenses to see "stuff" on the C-element. with lens off it looks like crystals, white and randonly scattered in little pockest with the largest one top.
Any idea's WTF this could be?

Not the usual aluminium reaction blobs from the filler holes but something different?
Any pictures?

Any pictures? | no, it's not blobs or cloudiness. theyre actually little crystals, look like snow flakes or fiberglass. I've never seen this before. the Obvious fix is to drain, clean, and re-fill but I would like ot know how & why so it doesn't happen again.

Athanasios | yes they do but the anodize was fine in this one. I didn't see any bare spots and I didn't scratch or gouge the metal during the process. Any suggestions on a fix?

Not sure what caused mine either then I assumed it was the aluminum. I wonder if any impurities were in the glycol we used? I think there is an additive we could add to the glycol for anti fungal growth, thats what i assume the crystal like deposits are, no? maybe we could boil the glycol to make sure its clean? I have no idea, clean up the chamber with distilled water or denatured alcohol next time, and make sure no dust at all gets in there.

Does this look similar? If it looks, its then bye bye to that C-element | no I don't think so? I had a C-element that looked like it was starting t odo that but what I have now actually looks like particles on the surface. I will take the tube out tonight and shake it, if the stuff is loose and settles to the bottom then I will be fine with that. I'l ltry and take a pic.
