While working on an NEC PG+ system board that I had no spares of, I may have just nailed the no sync/scrambled menus/no pix/intermittent pix/only syncs at 480i problems that have plagued these boards for years now.

I went from all of the above problems with the one board to rock solid sync/menus/everything. I almost fell off my seat. Mr. Green

Anyways, I've always told a bunch of you to hang onto the old boards in case someone ever found the repair. I now want a bunch of bad system boards to test my theory in. I think I have 2-3 more here that I can work with, but I'd like a bunch more. If what I came across today does indeed work, I'd be happy to do a bunch of repairs at big discounts to prove the repair works.

Let me know. I'm running this board overnight, but right now it's solid.

Mark, Doug wont give up any because of his records. At least thats what he told me when I talked to him about this before he had his current situation. I had some success also with system boards, altho different fix then what Curt found, And needed more boards to test on. I even posted the same thing Curt just posted and got 1 response. I had some success with an XG board also but with only 1 bad board there also I couldn't continue so I stopped looking as there seemed to be no interest. No one else responded to the request. My stuff is all in storage now so I cann't test Curts find here. I hope you guys send him some boards to confirm.

It's still running fine, I've run resolutions from 480p to 1024p. I'll play more with it before I send it back to the customer, but for this one, I think I nailed it. I'm VERY pleased, this was one of the 'unrepairable' things that has been pissing me off about CRT projectors. Wink

I'm sure you got it on that one Curt. From when I was experimenting, there wouldn't be any change until I was in the right place. Of course I could cause the system board to return to its non syncing form by reversing what I did, then sync again when corrected. Did you try reversing what you did to confirm?

Hell no, not on this one. Smile

But I will on others, and will change one part at a time. I really didn't think that I found the problem, but I will narrow this down, maybe even today.

Doug has records?

Kinda irrelevant at this point in time, surely?

It's not like there are any 8" CRTs in "active service". We have them all now.
