Here's one to remember for you G70 owners.
I repaired/retubed a G70 recently that Sony claimed couldn't be repaired when the customer sent it to California. I had the main repair done in 1/2 hour, the H board was bad, but then it turned out the tubes were nuked, so the customer approved the retube.
He had it trucked back down to Portland, Or in a pickup, well packed in a G90 box, and his installers called yesterday saying the blue V convergence wasn't working. AS luck ahd it, I was in Portland when they called, so I stopped by. Not only was the blue V convergence not working, the edge focus was way out of whack on the tube face, and the edge focus controls weren't working. After a bunch of head scratching, it turned out that the focus/vertical board had worked itself loose in the plastic housing, and a quick reseating solved both problems.
I'm guessing that maybe the blue convergence data was being corrupted by the loose focus board? Anyways, that's a strange problem I'd never heard of before.

It's always nice when a problem is that easy to fix though, cherrish those moments as the bad days are never too far away.

Yup, that's the one. I never touched that board either, so it just worked itself loose.
BTW, did you know there are two versions of that board? They are NOT compatible, and look slightly different from one another. Damn Sony!
