Unfortunately, I have to agree with Greg. Wan, you and I are a dying breed. There are going to be fewer and fewer of us to keep buying physical media, hence the declining physical sales and increasing online sales. At the same time, more and more kiddies are coming along that have never even HEARD a good quality recording before, and couldn't care less whether or not they have a jewel case, CD, and cover art to clutter their shelves. Don't confuse your personal preferences with that of the masses. You're increasingly in the minority, Wan.

However, I think just like vinyl is making a small resurgence, so too will CD. I know that sounds crazy right now, but we'll see... All the kiddies that are happy spending their hard-earned cash on sh*t mp3 and compressed AAC files from iTunes will eventually come around. Some will learn the hard way that they have a lot to lose when their computer is damaged, lost or stolen, or when the hard drive crashes. Some, when they start making money and exploring hobbies, will find hifi and come to realize that compressed music sounds like crap.

While I'm saddened to see the decline of CD sales and increasing intangible online sales of subpar compressed music, I am fascinated by the potential direct-to-fan opportunities by bands. Singles directly from the bands. Special edition mix tracks. I just hope we can move beyond compressed crap, and on to better. If everybody else wants to pay $7 for a 160kbps AAC file of a new album, fine - I don't care. But, let me pay $10 for a set of 24-bit/96khz files. Let's start using this digital distribution model to offer consumers some options instead of the same dumbed-down junk. With the physical model, everything was the same by necessity; we don't have to do that anymore.

The point is simple. People like to have something in the hand for the money unless they are eating it.

You are thinking last generation man...Brad Pitt is yesterday's cup of tea!
Well, he is in my age group, so I'll stick with wanting something physical for my money.
