Gotcha - but yes, bare WM6 is an UGLY sight to behold (and use).

Quite a few - HTC Touch, HTC Mogul/Titan, HTC Kaiser(Tilt), that's just the few I know of. The Kaiser and Titan have slide-out keyboards, but the front is 95% touch screen. Touch has certainly grown in the past few years, but should an operating system continually be 2-3 years BEHIND the trend? That's inexcusable IMO. As you pointed out above, the only reason you can stomach WM6 at all is because you have a third-party interface slapped on. And that archaic system STILL the best that Microsoft has got until 6.5 is released...it's just sad. I love my phone but it needs a lot of help to realize the potential. If the VZW iPhone came out tomorrow, I would buy it.

Keep an eye out for the Verizon Android phones...I know I am...

I was following up till Thurs. then we were officially out and internet off. Back on as of today, Sun..

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Well here's how it went down. We weren't interested in phones or small screen devices for internet. I already had a cell so I decided to stay with that and just concentrat on internet service. We looked at netbooks but these also had small screens so went with regular laptops with wireless. So I needed these 2 laptops to access internet, along with 2 pc's, 1 my main pc and the other one is the one connected to the main flat panel in the motorhome. A trip to bestbuy and I found a Netgear 3G mobile broadband wireless router that has an adapter to plug in your air card. GREAT!!!!

So all that was left was the air card and after suggestions here I decided to go with Verizon. I just finished upgrading firmware and configuring and so far all is well. Next will be a GPS antenna for a laptop and some navigation software and should have mobile internet with directions. I'll post how it works during our travels. Thanks again.... Thumbs Up

How much was that if you don't mind me asking?

Wondering if it might make sense for you to get a mifi device...

$99 with a new 2 year agreement and I think $60 per month unlimited...limited to 4 laptops though I think.

This is the router. It was 129.00 at Bestbuy.
http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/3GMobileBroadband/MBR624GU.aspx

The air card was free with a 2 yr plan. Service plan was 59.95 per mth with a 5 gig per mth download limit.

I think you got the better deal. You have a more robust router for only $30 more and it actually has some LAN ports on the back for hardwiring a computer.

Plus...that isn't carrier specific. Way better deal.

Thanks. You always wonder if you made the right decision on something your not familiar with. I really tried to way the pros and cons but there were very few choices. I'm just not sure on the 5 gig limit as of yet. With the air card, all activity is counted, not just if you download something. I'll have to keep an eye on that so as not to go over. I think its something like 5 cents per megabyte when you go over... Shocked They didnt have an unlimited plan available.

Good deal Mac! I didn't even know that routers like that existed. Sounds like that's definitely the best solution for you, and reasonable cost to boot.

I have no proof but I have heard that you can get a slap on the wrist if you get close to the max.

I thought it was more like 50 cents per meg over the limit.

The BS part is that Sprint and Verizon advertise that as unlimited! Maybe on a smartphone you would be hard pressed to go over but if you have a few laptops on it...it won't take long.

Apparently I can monitor my account and usage with My Verizon online which I tried to set up last night but they want to text me the temp password. The air card does have a number which I had to input but the idiots dont realize I cant receive a text via the air card. So I just emailed them for further info.

I rechecked the plan and it is .05 cents per megabyte on overage.

Definitely no unlimited plan for air card yet. At least not thru verizon. I'm sure eventually there will be. Just like cells of years past...

When I worked for Sprint I fielded that question/complaint (unlimited really isn't) on a daily basis. I don't do it anymore but I see Sprint has a 5 simultaneous device wireless 'hub/aircard' called MiFi they're pushing. I wonder how that will work in regard too combined usage.
They'd almost have to have a REAL unlimited plan but I'm betting it won't be cheap. It will only work for people who work or live somewhere where high speed cable I-Net isn't available.

Yea, I have a pretty good signal here. I'm curious to how it is with a mediocre signal.

I wonder if the difference between yours and mine is the device, signal or service?
