Say couldn't you but a decent used CRT projector with lots of life left in it for that price?

At what hour count did your bulb go out? Didn't you get this set last year? Do you watch it that much?

And here we are bitching about 1k for a new 9" green which will last 5-6 thousand hours.

the bulb is still running, but we now have 2200 hours on it, and it is time to be prudent and get a replacement bulb on hand. sony just jacked the price in nz to $2500, or $1400 USD...

Do you have specs for the bare bulb? Physical size, voltage, wattage?

its Xenon, and not sure the assembly supports the bare bulb trick.

That high because it is a Xenon bulb.
As for the PJ, he had an ECP, he got this PJ for free from insurance (that is one hell of an upgrade!).
You would be hard pressed to find any PJ for $859 plus shipping that will beat the overall image performance of this PJ. A few 8" are close (G70, Cine 8 Onyx), but really need a 9" to be comparable.

indeed.
the picture is stunning, colors are amazing. was just lookin for sources a reasonable money. the $850 USD is WAAAAY better than what SONY NZ are wanting. maybe they feel the need to raise their prices on the lamp so much to help justify the horrendous price that they are asking for the VW200...
tp put their lamp price in perspective, here in NZ the lamp is over half the price of the Panasonic 3000, and between half and a third the price of the JVC...
if someone knows the bare lamp and a source, i'd be inclined to try it with the original lamp. will be putting a new complete housing in it first.

Damn, at least you put a lot of hours on it. That's good, despite the bulb costs.

I'd be curious to know what the lumen dropoff was from start to finish (after 2200 hours).
