now this guy bought somebody elses HT Abortion so you can't blame him but how can this possibly be a "HD projection theatre"? Looks like a living room with a crappy little Costco projector and $50. screen. Heck,you can even watch the movie while cooking up supper in the kitchen, VITTLES ARE READY!

Well then I guess you don't want to see pictures of mine. It has a swing, a bed and some big mirrors in it. The swing gets pulled out of the way and black cloth over the mirrors for movie nights.

Well, there are many living room projector set ups. Heck, a 42" plasma with 5.1 surround is considered "home theater".
As for this set up. Given the 4:3 screen, I'm betting this theater was set up quite awhile ago and that "costco" PJ was a $8000+ PJ at the time (I do not doubt it is horrid by today's standards even for digitals--think on/off of 400:1). So, just somebody who had it set up in 2002, never upgraded, and thought it was a selling point.
As for theater's you could see from the kitchen, I'm not going to discount those. Phil had one of those with his sweet rear projection set up (his living room looked like he had an 87" plasma hanging on the wall. After seeing the performance of his system (and audio I loved to boot), I'm not gonna knock a living room theater.

It's not the living rom and kitchen so much as the half-ass nature of it in general. I know a lot of people don't have the luxury of basment space but you can still do some things right like painting the screen wall a darker color, centering the screen to the seating area, getting the screen the right height to the veiwing area, correct aspect ratio for a theatre like experience, etc.
What bugs me it's so half ass, it looks like something thrown up by a drunk guy after work on friday. What bugs me even more is people look at that and think, "oh so that's home theatre, I don't want that in my home". No wonder the OP is selling it off, I would take a nice Plasma over that abortion any day.

Priorities. Not everyone has the same priorities and yours are not better than theirs. If their priorty is just to have the "fun" of "big screen" movie watching 2 hours per week in their living room, it is perfectly reasonable that they don't want dark wall(s), etc that would decrease their enjoyment of the room the other 28 hours per week they spend in the room. Simply put, getting a great image is likely not a high priority for them.
Some people may look at your theater and say "what a waste of space, this would be a great game room, gym room, library, etc." Neither of you is right or wrong, just personal preference.

i'm sorry, but anyone who looks at my HT and say's "this would be a grerat place to put a stinky gym" is a f-in moron. Same goes for Library, you can put books anywhere in the house. there's a million ways to excersize or read a book but only one way to have a true Cinema experience at home.

Yeah, but just like there's no reason for a gym at home because you can go to a gym, you don't NEED a "true cinema experience" at home because you can get it at a true cinema!
Everybody has different interests and priorities. For some people (I'd say most, actually), it's a remarkably stupid waste of money and space to have a "true cinema experience" at home when for $20 a pop, they can go watch a movie in a theater! You have to be a real movie/audio/video fan to want to do what we do.
The reality is that there are all sorts of hobbies and activities that people want to use their spaces for, none being any more or less legitimate than any other. Some people are thrilled to spend $20k on a pool table and lavish bar because they love playing pool, drinking beer, and entertaining friends. Another guy might want a giant workshop with $10,000 worth of tools and equipment to tinker with his $10,000 worth of radio control jet airplanes. A woman might want a giant craft room with big tables and tons of storage.
Please articulate for me why it's so smart for you to use your space as a home theater, while everybody else who doesn't have or want a home theater is an "f-in moron"?

You need a better than [public] theater experience in the home. Why? Because, you can watch content without the distractions that inconsiderate SOBs bring to public places.
Just because some form of pathetic offering for hobby X exists in the public wild doesn't mean we should all have to go all social over it and give up our personal private versions.
