O.K. Here we go, Having put GOZER {aka Marquee 9500L/C} on the ceiling and set it up I now have this blue Banding that shoots across the screen in 5 different places, evenly spaced, and then settles to 1 spot at the top of the screen eventually.

The real problem is it does not happen all of the time.

Also after doing the mags the center of the screen is dead-on but the edges of the blue and red are way off and wacky out of adjustment. The convergence takes care of this but it just seems to be really extreme .

The picture is the best it has ever been, when the blue band isn't overwhelming it.

Any thoughts.

Thats not banding, sounds more like ground loop or noise in the video., if it was banding you'd see it on all three colors while cycling trough the colors.

Could be your G2 for the blue is too high or a connection is loose somewhere in the blue video chain. Another thing that can cause it but I have only seen this with one of my VNB's is the two black wires that are near the op amp on the VNB. If they are pushed flat to the Circuit board they can cause noise or interference in the image. You can pull up on them so they are off the board or you can remove them and put them on the back side of the PCB, this way the ground plane on the underside shields the interference from the op amp.

Thanks again Nashou. I have removed the neckboard and reseated it 3 times so far since putting it on the ceiling and it helps at first then the problem returns.

This happened before on the floor but went away after a reset.

Next idea?

Also the Blue G-2 is 70 where it has always been. What is the PCB?

Yes many times at the 60 setting it is dark, to dark to see any details.

Inability to see the second darkest square with G2 below 75 for any color indicates a worn or damaged tube. The need to set Red Drive above 60, or Blue Drive above 75 also indicates weak tubes.

GOZER does have some hours on the tubes, 5300 and chassis 14900,

That comment above inability to see the second bar with a G2 below 75 is misleading. It means inability to see the second square distinguished clearly beside the other two adjoining squares indicates a damaged or warn tube. So if at 60 you can not distinguish the second darkest square to the darker or the lower square then its warn or has low emission. I am sure on all my marquees 8 and 9 inch sets my blue G2 is lower than 65. you could raise the brightness to 55 and try tims setup and then up the brightness a few more clicks and see how that changes things. Brightness raises the black level.

here is a good guide to setting contrast and brightness, but you have to go back and forth to set the G2's then.

O.K. I'll try that later.

The Blue Noise is gone after pulling the neckboard again. It was pushed fully forward on the tube pins, now it is set back a tiny bit and all seems well.

By the way for shits and giggles what are your settings at. For a test? Your Mitsubishi settings were fantastic.

O.k. Now the screen is just Blue and fuzzy like snow. I have all the test patterns full white and have cycled through the colors RGB and have full color on each respectively. No picture, if I wiggle the HDMI cable the picture comes back as mostly blue sometimes and some times not.

I turned off the machine pulled the moome card used Deoxit on it and the cable. No good.

Now what? Sad

For what it's worth the picture last night was fantastic I watched 3 movies straight through after having lowered the G-2's across the board 2 settings down, finally, Fade To Black.

What else can it be Rolling Eyes What a Downer.

Bump Is it possible the Mooome card has shorted out? I have re-initialized the Marquee, no change.

I seem to recall you had a complete working 8500 there? Why the heck aren't you trying or using some parts off it ot diagnose the 9500? For one, I would swap the Blue neck-cards between them. The 9" card won't go in the 8500 but it will go the other way. Also, you should be checking card version between the 2 machines and using the newest modules. If the 8500 has an 50-2003-08P HDM then that should go into the 9500, etc.
FWIW, a G2 of 70 in my opinion is definitely a weak or worn tube but that doesn't make it unusable IMO.

No I don't have another machine. No spare parts at all. I'm sure the blue is weak and so is the red, but again that's not a usability issue. Right now it simply displays blue fuzzy snow nothing else.

Where do I start to diagnose?

I have Re-initialized and the problem is still there. Also remember the Blue G-2 wire was off when I brought this thing home. I am thinking it has had a problem before, and/or always, that has finally given out completely.

The blue grid on the test convergence grid is off on the left side considerably, it is dead on in the center 8 squares with the magnetics done. It has always been off and drooped on the side from day one.

Swap the video cable to another color first, let us know if the problem follows. you can do this on the VIM swap green to blue and blue to green.
then if you can swap the whole vnb to another tube and report back again.

also if you have a RGBHV source test the VIM with that and not the Moome, this will isolate the moome card if its ok via RGBHV

Thanks Nashou.

No I don't have a RGBHV source yet. I have ordered a cable for my computer for that special privilege and to help later with the Eye One calibration.

I will try the VIM bit now though.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say the VIM is the problem. I went to swap the cables and when pulling the board forward to get access I noticed 4 black [caps?] wrapped by some blue shrink wrap near where the Moome card plugs in at has melted the shrink wrap.
