Keep in mind that _some_ Ampros won't work properly with the Fury, the Fury2 is better. I have a local customer that has right shift that I've never been able to get rid of, so he's living with it. (you can return the Fury if it doesn't work). I think the 4600 HD should be OK. Go grab an SVGA to 5 BNC cable from a local computer place, and run your computer into the set while you're waiting for the Fury.

The throw calculator along with the installation manual are in the same place. Due your self a favor and study and fully understand the physical mounting of the projector before you try to hang it. My suggestion is to figure out EXACTLY where the manual states you should place the projector, EXACTLY. Then design your mounting system to allow for some small movement so that you can slide it closer to the screen later. If you can start with a perfectly mounted projector (not a little left or right, a little high or low or not quite centered on the screen). you will have great success the first time out.
Then when you understand how the relationship between the physical mounting and electronics work, you can consider sliding it forward and tweek it out.

I looked for the calculator but I didn't find anything specific to this model. I'm obviously not looking in the right place. I'm pretty sure I can get the projector centered on the screen hanging from the ceiling. I intend to cut the drywall using the unistrut as a straight edge, then recess the unistrut into the ceiling. That way I can find the joists and be sure that I'm not screwing into the strapping for the drywall. Standing facing the screen the joists run left and right so getting centered is possible. The unistrut will run forward and back so adjustment closer or farther from the screen is also possible. Some black paint on the unistrut and Bob's your uncle. I assume that compensating for the difference in distance top to bottom is in the set-up adjustments and so the owner's manual hopefully describes this procedure. Can you point me toward the right page. And thanks

Keep in mind you need some space between the ceiling and the projector for air flow.
Before you go and mount it, set it up on the floor and learn it. Just like Chip said. Once you get it all figured out and it's producing a good picture then toss it up on the ceiling nice and square.
And grab yourself the VGA to 5 BNC cable to hook up your PC. This will get you started.

THe throw is about 1.4 X the width of the screen. Since this is your first CRT, I'd set it up on the floor first to get a feel for it, then ceiling mount.

Not yet and I probably won't be able to get one today. (4 BNC on this one) |
You should have another board (quad decoder board) or a plate with the v-drive on it. The quad is the one with the s-video input on it. Otherwise you need to combine H and V sync on RGB1.

On the left is a board with red , green, blue, sync. Then a blank slot, then a board with just v. drive. That makes 5 total. Is sync actually the H sync . That would make sense. I've read that some units use one connection for both sync pulses and that's what I assumed when I saw 4 inputs on one board.

Your projector is refered to as "muti-sync". Most high end displays are. The board to the left is RGB1. That sync connection is auto sensing and can be composite sync or H-sync. When you get the break-out cable, RGB is obvious, the H goes on the bottom and the V goes to the other board. If your projector has the quad decoder board (most do) you can connect a S-VIDEO cable to it and feed the projector a standard def signal direct from a DVD player (480I). It will look like $hit but it will work.

The calculator and manuals are under the FAQ for Ampro 3600/4600. The calculator is for all the Ampro's, it'll ask what you have when you run it. The installation for the HD model is the same as the base 4600. The differences are in the electronics, so don't worry that it doesn't say specifically 4600HD in the download section.
