|
|
Hi everybody,
I want to connect a PS2 to my Ampro 3600. Therefor I bought a PS2 RGB-SCART cable, and made a SCART to VGA adapter. The problem is that the PS2 seems to output a RGB signal the Ampro can't handle: The frequency counter shows a signal with 14.8xx kHz and 38Hz. The Ampro needs a minimum of 15kHz and 40Hz. When I switch the PS2 to component video, I get a green image (and 15.6kHz and 50Hz (PAL)) as you'd expect, so the cable itself works.
Does anyone know why the PS2 outputs such a strange signal, and if there's any possibility to get the Playstation to work on the CRT? (without any kind of converter)
Thanks in advance,
Tillman

38hz? Something's severely screwed up there... I can't imagine ANYTHING outputting at 38hz! I still suspect the cable; component may well react differently... can you hook the PS2 with the same cable setup to a CRT monitor?

Are you sure the H and V wires aren't reversed?

H and V cables aren't even connected as RGB-SCART is transmitting a sync-on-green signal. When switching to component output, sync works fine.

ok I found out about the 38 Hz, thats just what the frequency counter says when there's no sync at all...
EDIT: alright, I solved the problem. The PS2 actually outputs a RGBS (not sync on green) signal. The strange thing is that normally composite sync on a SCART connector is on Pin 19 (at least all the instructions on how to make a SCART-VGA adapter say so). On the cable I bought, composite sync was on Pin 20...
