I have two inputs to my PJ. One is from my HTPC...and this works fine. The other is from the HDMI connections to either my BD player of HD satellite...and that is when I have problems. Does this help identify the problem?

Athanasios | Ive never actually seen a problem with U7 short of the oxidation. what I have seen that casues synch problems after PJ warms up is dried out Tant's at C6 ,C1, and C2.
These are known problem parts with the CLM, all of them should be replaced.

yeah i know but he already cleaned it, and the problem is directly related to operating temperature, so it's unlikely any additional re-cleaning will help here. Even on a MArquee you can't clean your way out of every problem

I still like to see what happens if he runs the same frequency resolutions as his Blu Ray player over the HTPC. I can't remember where but someone mentioned
that a bad board, not sure which one, will not sync to the higher frequencies but will allow lower ones to work fine. I think it was the HDM but not sure. the problem only shows up when running Blu ray type high frequencies.
See what happens if you change the internal frequencies to the higher settings with no source connected, I think that also can trigger the problem i am describing.
Who the hell mentioned this before? I cant find it on any searches.

I had a CLM that synched fine and ran at 1080i but not 720P or higher after warm up. Eventually 720 wouldn't synch either. Also had a VIM that had problems with certain resolutions. Both were tantalum SMT cap related.
MP actually told me about CLM C1, and C2 and the synch problem a while back, but I've seen it at least twice. IF those are bad then really all of them should be replaced IMO. I have a feeling we're going to see more of this as time passes but luckilly it's not a terrible repair to make. Those little suckers are expensive though, about 50 bucks just to do 1 CLM.
In this case it might not even be resolution related but a problem on the expansion slot only? Not sure, the video input connections aren't clear?
