Anyway, can someone confirm that those sides have to slide up (down) a little bit to unlatch?

You don't need to slide them. Take the screws out and pivot the panel from the mount side just straight away from the base. If your ceiling mount is dead onto the bottom of the panels they might not want to swing though.

@Cousin.It

Ahhh... yeah, I see now. And the mount is completely flush; there's no way there'll be enough space. Sad Thanks for taking the pics!

So my only option (since I don't see dismounting the projector as an option here!) is to paint in place. Anybody know if it would be possible to roller-paint the case without it looking awful? Multiple coats aren't a problem; it's not THAT much area. The inside of those vents would be an absolute bastard, but I'm willing to q-tip it if necessary.

Thoughts?

Mask and Spray? Smile

I would go for it if there's a way to mask the vents from the inside, any possible way to slip a sheet of paper in there?

thin the paint and use allot of coats. You'll get better coverage and less sags than trying to do it thick and you don't have to worry about the over spray.

Its in the dark, above your head, really who cares if its a perfect job or not ? Especially if you're painting it black, in a darkened room.....

No way in hell I'm gonna spray. Too risky; I'm not confident enough in my masking ability to spray in the room. I tried spraying in a room once before... baaaad results. Never again! Smile

So it's roller or nothin'.

I would just paint it with a medium size brush, shouldn't be a problem. maybe use a small roller (3" or 4") on the underside to get a more even coat.
