Hi all i am new to this board but i have spend a few days reading and i think i have more questions now then when i started haha
i am now the proud owner of not 1 not 2 not 3 BUT 4 NEC PG6200 6PG XTRA's
i also have the brake out cable for the vid input but i need a full function remote and about 10 sleepless nights to set it all up hahaha
i am in Brisbane (south side) QLD OZ
this is the first projector but i am not new to this type of thing as i have been useing a rear projection screen data monitor 42 inch that i have been useing as a TV for over 5 years now but it is only 800X800 rez
hopping to get this beast up and running
i have had the 4 units for about a week now but i put my back out bringing them in to the house and have had to spend the last all most week in bed in traction i am ment to still be there but there is only so much time you can look at the roof obove your bed with out going stir crazy
sorry about the bad pics but my good phone has stopped reading my SD card for some reason

Congrats! where did you score four of them? You could do a killer blend with your two best units. Nec's have a reputation for being difficult to setup but providing a great image once finished, but i suppose you have probably figured that out by now. There are plenty of NEC guys here who can help you with the learning curve. Goodluck and welcome to the forum!

Good score! Those came out of some monitoring facility. THe small pix made the burn on the green tube look like interference, but those are text burns!!!!
I've seen Marquees like that, but not NECs. you need some green tubes!

beleve it or not i got them all for FREE
i just happend to be passing a building that was starting to be demolished and i saw through a hole in the wall one of them so i asked the guy in the tractor thing that was smashing the wall down what was happening to them and he said getting crushed
so i asked if i could take them he told me i had 2 hours he would turn his back for
i ran to the car pulled out my tool kit jumped in there fork lift (i have a licence to drive them thank god) and got 4 of the 8 that where there in the 2 hours
i didnt notice till later that one of them has a damaged lense but that is no drama with 4 of them
went back today and gave the guy a 1120ml bottle of jack hehehe
i haven't powered up 3 of the units yet hopping i can make at lest 1 good one out of the 4 and part out the rest of the stuff to maby pay for some new/good tubes
[EDIT] what is blending???

Man, that really is a great find! I doubt that could even happen in the U.S. with everyone here so paranoid about liability law suits and the like! A blend is when you put two projectors side by side so that each projector handles half (left projector-left side, right projector-right side) of the projected image with the two halves "blending" with a little bit of overlap in the middle. it's a way of dramatically increasing your clarity and resolution. i forget the spec's on the PG's, but you could probably get fully resolved 1080p that way, as only one is not up to the task. you can also do a Stack, that is where you have two projectors side by side with identical images "stacked" on top of one another. this greatly increases your brightness and makes the well known superior contrast of CRT's even better as well as helping to reduce tube wear since the units share the load. I'm pretty sure it's possible to do more than two projectors as well ie. a triple blend to project a 2.35:1 image or a triple stack for even more brightness etc.
This is kind of advanced stuff though, you have much more basic issues to deal with first. when i read your post with FOUR projectors though it was the first thing to come to my mind, that's why i mentioned it.
Have Fun!

where can i find the info on making a remote cable and the software to use the computer (micro laptop) to work on the screen aliment
where in AU can i find tubes for my rigs and about what should i be paying each tube or can i get them rebuilt
anyone out there got a full function remote i can buy and how much you want for it
called NEC AU and they wanted 289 + 10% GST + P&H 16.98 for a RC-6051 and only have 1 left in stock chatted to him for a bit then asked him when the last remote was sold he said 5 years ago and i said at that price the last one will sit on the shelf and wont be sold till its tosed in the bin so can he do a better price talked him down to 179+10%+P&H but that is still way to rich for me for a remote i will only realy need once

there are a couple of second hand dealers in AU. I see a company called Hammerhead all the time on ebay and there are a few others. i do remember their prices being pretty steep though, but you might be able to negotiate some kind of trade. you might be able to find one on this forum at a decent price but shipping is going to be steep. Put some feelers out and see what comes your way.

At least one has HD-144s (first picture).
Also try www.videoprojectors.com.au for a remote.
But if all of them have toasted tubes, then it's not worth spending the money on the remote.

I thought tubes were relatively inexpensive for those? No?
Did you ask Curt if he has anything? Even a green tube with a wear pattern would be worlds better than what he has now.

And where exactly does one buy a P16LJE08HKA these days?
Is VDC making them now?

Whoops! I thought it was a normal PG, not an extra. Those are a bit more rare, but I thought XG greens were interchangeable? No?
I wasn't suggesting he buy new. There's a reasonable chance Curt has a Green that would be a 7 or an 8 on the chart that would at least get him a watchable image. Still, I guess he could part out 3 of the 4 machines and use the money towards a Barco or Marquee, while looking for a tube, but then again, I thought NEC's were the prominent projectors in Australia (seems like they are anyways), so which route would you recommend he go Mark?

I dunno.
It all depends on the tubes.
I do not know where to get replacements, other than Curt, or maybe VDC.
I do not know if VDC is making these tubes.
This means, that all 8" projectors may be on borrowed time now. G70, XG, XG-LC, Xtra. Dunno about Marquees and Barcos.
I will say, that I paid 350 Euro for a red XG-LC tube once. And A$600 each for bare P16 tubes.
Sometimes you get lucky and get them cheap, sometimes you just gotta pony up. The problem now is availability.

Yeah, I guess if you want to keep any projector other than a marquee (for now), you'll have to be like some guys and stockpile.
Hopefully Curt can hook him up. He's only in this a big bottle of Jack, so $100 (or a point board) for a remote and a slightly worn tube from Curt would get him running with a nice projector for a few hundred. I've seen guys do worse on here.
Wouldn't you be pi$$ed if the other 4 units had mint tubes? I'm sure they were toasted too... maybe go back and see.

you are correct all 4 have HD-144's but 1 blue and 1 green are damaged the price of rushing the job to get them down and out in to the car
am i correct in beleveing the SONY G70 used the same tubes as the 6PG's?
i seem to be getting sonys showing up a lot in my part number searches

yes VCD are doing R&R on them dont know about new tho
$749USD to R&R each tube + P&H

when i went back with the bottle of jack all i saw was a HUGE pile of rubble and could just see the corner of a really badly crushed 6PG xtra well i think that is what it was HAHA
here is the sony data moniter i am useing as a screen now i have had it for 6 or 7 years now and it runs about 17 hours a day and hasent missed a beat in all that time other than having to take out all the fans and replace the bearings in them
dont judge the image quality by thes pics all colors are clean and true took me a week to get them that way when i first got it 2nd hand with about 800 hours on the tubes
this really is a sh!tty camera in my old cell phone
