I recently acquired a Vidikron TGS 200, which turns on a provides a picture. However, I cannot seem to get a test pattern!

The remote control does work, and pushing "TEST" on it is supposed to display the test pattern, however this does not work. I cannot find a way to manually access the test pattern on the unit without using the remote, in case there is a problem with the remote. The remote does work for all other functions, so seems to be working fine. I can adjust the convergence and focus on the unit, although it seems to be extremely difficult to get everything to line up properly without the test pattern, and everything seems to be off by an inch on the edges, even if I get the center to somewhat line up.

Any ideas on why there wouldn't be a test pattern, or how to get it to show up?

It is a really old set. I might have some parts for it that you can have for dirt cheap, but why not just get an AVIA disc off eBay or Amazon and run the test patterns off it? That's cheaper and faster than trying to repair your set.
