|
|
Hi all,
I changed screens from a Stewart 4:3 to a Draper AT 16:9 recently. Adjusted the convergence and settings for the screen and everything worked great for several weeks. Decided I would do a color calibration with my Eye-One in case the screen made a difference. Set up everything, then selected "White Balance" from the setup menu. The image got REALLY bright and washed out. I checked Contract and Brightness settings, which didn't move. I shut the unit down, concerned about the super-bright image, and restarted. Picture looked OK then. I selected "Kelvin" (white balance adjustment) from the remote, and got the extra-bright image again. I noticed that the brightness of the individual tubes was oscillating from dark to bright. Shut it down again and stopped messing with the menus.
I've checked, and the "AKB" setting is off, like it should be.
After a restart, the picture appears normal, but I notice a faint curved green line (fuzzy) in really dark scenes in a movie. I've run the PJ with no problems, other than the line, for several hours.
I'm guessing there is a board that is going or gone?
I have the guts of a spare 9pgxtra that I scrapped a couple of years ago, so I may have the board(s) I need. I just need to know which one it is.
Thanks!

PG Xtra boards aren't compatible.
Can't help you with your other problem, but you need PG or Plus parts, not Xtra ones.

There is nothing wrong with your projector, it doesn't matter if you turn AKB off on an NEC, its never really off. When you go into the Kelvin menu, you'll activate it for sure, just let it do its thing and finish up trying to balance out your tubes. If it doesn't finish, then I'd bet on it being a setup issue, ie. reference mechanical white balance, not a a bad board of some kind.

Not, it's not supposed to go bright and *stay* bright while the AKB is on.
It will flash for an INSTANT as the line turns on. But then go back to normal *with* the line on.
