I'm looking for a way to input HD signal from my HD STB in Vista MCE.

More specific, I want to be able able to have a MCE tuner able to receive HD signal.

Somebody managed to do that?

Thanks.

If you want Over The Air (OTA) HD local channels in HD there are about a million tuners that you can install that are iether PCI or USB or PCI Express x1. Just check your favorite online computer retailer (www.newegg.com).

If you want it from the STB than you need an HD PVR from Hauppauge. Look it up. Has component inputs.

How is it not compatible?

If you are looking for HDMI capture then you need mega storage and a Black Magic card.

...And that won't be a MCE/remote-friendly solution.

Are you saying it isn't compatible with VISTA MCE or it isn't compatible with your STB?

That would surprise me if you couldn't add it as a tuner in VMCE...but I have never looked into it.

Yes, that's it, both solution of working. But here's the prob.

The blackmagic accept HDMI but only unprotected content (non DHCP) most of HD channls are HDCP protected so the blackmagic won't able to record them. Also, Their is no MCE driver so no tuner. I need a complet integration with MCE.

Also, the PVR 1212 from hauppauge, great product, I tested it. Working great. The prob, it's recording in H.264 and their is no MCE integration (Tuner). Finally, H.264 won't be supported in MCE extenders.

Anybody have another idea??

THANKS

Check the greenbutton for help with integrating the HD PVR into VMCE. Surely someone has figured it out.

As for the H.264 comment, you can change the recording format to .TS, .M2TS, or .MP4. Both .TS and .MP4 will work with Xbox 360 and probably other extenders.
