Do you want DD or DTS? PS3 is usually DD output isn't it?
Tones of dolby digital decoders were made about 10 yeras ago to add to 5.1 ready systems. I know the Panasonic I have ( no sorry not for sale ) has a volume control, I think the Sony did as well. The Yamaha DDP-1 and DDP-2 did not. I don't think the Marnatz did either.
For DTS the only decoder I ever found was the Millenium DTS decoder.( Yes I have one, no not for sale-sorry )

Ok I was wrong. They have a Xbox 360 with Hdmi. So I'm not sure what the output audio is on the 360. All I am looking for is something to give them the 5.1 surround-sound from the video games. I was thinking of the hdmi decoder, because it is small and not too expensive. My brother-in-law doesn't want to spend too much on this.
I am hoping that this would get the results that I want and sound half-way decent doing it.
The other suggestions are great but I don't want to have an equipment rack for this little project. Plus like I said this is a minimum money project. I have procured the cardboard from a local sears store. I am using scrap wood that my brother-in-law has picked up from some of the jobs he has done.

I remember that one! Great performer. I likes the way you could add special effects to the DD at the time.
