Like secstate, I am using Ubuntu. I have to use XP on my laptop, because crappy Datacolor only works on XP. I am guessing they breathed a huge sigh of relief about the XP mode. I haven't asked if it has been tested yet. Heck, Datacolor doesn't have to update their program for another ten years. Rolling Eyes
Anyway, this sounds good if one already has a computer with Vista. I was thinking of buying a Toshiba laptop a couple of weeks ago, but I wasn't sure about the free upgrade thing or not. Honestly, if I do get a new laptop, then I will probably partition it with Ubuntu and only use Windows for Paintmaker.

Well it looks like Microsoft's finally ready to get rid of the mess that was Vista with the upcoming release of Windows 7.
You can help support the forum by pre-ordering through this link, and save 50% or more to boot (the Home Premium Edition upgrade is 58% off for only $49 - not bad!).

We thank you for your support!

Kal,

Couldn't I buy pretty much anything at Amazon by generating the appropriate link, and still get the forum some "forum support" benefit?

Like an electric fence kit for my backyard to electrify some pesky raccoons, and a shovel to bonk them on the head with while they're dazed?

Just ordered 2 by following that link. 1 to hopefully cure my Dell Vista laptop and 1 to play with at home. I hate vista, I hate Vista, I HATE VISTA.

I *LOVE* Vista!!!!

But then again, I am a computer technician by day... Very Happy

Well, personally, I love Macs.

But seriously...
Windows 7 is definitely an improvement over Vista - it is what Vista should have been. Worth the upgrade from Vista to 7.

Is Windows 7 region locked some how? What if I sent someone over in the US some money to buy this for me and get them to ship to me in Australia? Just found out that its $199 for the Vista to Home Premium upgrade down under.

I ordered mine though the link Kal, but it didn't take me straight to the order page. Will the forum still get credit?

Yup. As long as you click on *ANY* Amazon link here that has the 'curtpalmecrtp-20' tag in the URL, anything (anything at all) you purchase at Amazon during that visit gives us credit. Thanks for helping out!

Kal,

It seems like the tag for the forum dissapears wehn you clik other links on Amazon... will it still work. If I want to order this

http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Edward-James-Olmos/dp/B001993Y2C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1246369115&sr=1-1

How do I adjust the link so that it credits the forum?

Yup! And we thank you for it! The best part is that it costs you nothing extra.

CIR Engineering wrote:

Yes. You may only see the tag when you first go on (if at all). Amazon then knows where you're from and anything you buy during that session gets credited to CurtPalme.com

However, if you click on the link you cut & pasted here:

http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Edward-James-Olmos/dp/B001993Y2C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1246369115&sr=1-1

And go there directly, that won't work as it doesn't have our tag in it..

Instead, use any of our ads here at the top, or click on our Blu-ray Disc Release List and Must-Have Titles and pick anything to get to Amazon using our tag.

Yes, I think so - it's typically as simply as adding the following to the end of any Amazon URL:

&tag=curtpalmecrtp-20

Anyone for some Mac OS love?

To quote:

"Starting today, Mac OS X Snow Leopard is available for shipping at Amazon.com. Current Mac OS 10.5 Leopard users are eligible to upgrade to Snow Leopard at the very low price of $29.

Snow Leopard is a truly exciting addition to the Mac OS X line, with half the footprint of previous versions, great new features in Expose & Stacks, quicker Time Machine backup, and faster wireless network interaction. It’s the world’s most advanced operating system, finely tuned."
