Ok , so I've just retubed the XG and started to do magnetics , and I found the EM focusing doesnt seem to work at all , It looks like the coils are been driven "sort of" if you pull the connector out it you get terrible centre focus and good edge focus, the opposite when the connectors in place . I've known the STK packs to go on single channels but not on all 3 . Has anyone seen this before ?

Thanks

Not ever having a XG I can't say for sure but have had a PG+ and have seen focus go on all three.
How was the focus prior to the re-tube?

Ricky, if you need I can post you a F-drive and maybe an A-drive?

I'll want them back eventually, but not for a while.

I must say, you do seem to have a dog of an XG there... Sad

You have a bad focus board. Chances are something died when you took it out or bumped it while retubing it. IT was close to dying anyways.

I don't have spare boards, but can repair yours.

I can best that. I can keep a AmPro running top notch but I can't seem to fix a simple subwoofer amp to save my a$$.

Russ/Benny/Calibrator

I'd been e-mailing you both together about fixing your drives. You probably have his e-mail address already, in one of my e-mails.

If not, send me an e-mail.

No need for a present - what goes around comes around, and I might need to borrow...say a HV Probe again one day Wink

The XG's V-Drive required STK 392-040's Mark, and I got a couple sent from Rich-Tech Electronics Components in Canada. Unfortunately they don't have a listing for the -220 variant. I shot Sweetchuck an email back to that effect. Hopefully his googling has sourced some by now.

Hate to see an XG lay dormant because of the lack of a particular part. I mean ... it's not as if it's a Sony or something Laughing

Cheers,

Russ

I don't know if you guys found a source for the STK 392-220 yet. I got some from www.audiolabga.com a while back.
