I remember when you couldn't touch a G90 for less than $10K, now there's one on flea bay for $350. same price as an as-is 8500. Laughing

then again with all the incurable problems I'm surprised they kept their high value for so long. Razz

I would NOT trade my 1100 for a G90 at this point in time. It's fairly quiet, great picture, parts are available. Thumbs Up

A) The auction hasn't closed, yet.
B) There are no tube photos. It definitely needs at least a green, and probably needs a blue, too.
C) Yes, everybody here is a little gun-shy on G90's, but it isn't like 9500's haven't been listed for crazy cheap prices.

Let's see where it closes and then we'll talk.

What is a conservative estimate, assuming the tubes are burnt, of the value if parted out? I need a test machine to develop the chip replacement however don’t want to get stuck with a boat anchor. One of my 1292’s came from the same environment and you can clearly see the burn from the windows application.

Checking the bay, price is stalled, and noticed the G90 spec Light Output: ASNI 280 lumens (15kHz:60Hz, 6500°K), All white 500 lumens. Is that right? I thought it was much brighter than the 1292 ANSI 190 All white 300?

Anyone take a close look at the skewed picture of the tubes. Two of them look toasted.

I realize of course that it's nearly a certainty that at least the green and probably the blue need to be replaced, but I can't see a single one of the pictures that would give you a clue as to whether the tubes are or are not burnt. What picture are you talking about, Wan?

I own a G90 and love it. I got it a few years ago, and paid what seemed like a fair price at the time from a private party - but there were a number of issues with it that really made me wish I had spent a little more and gotten one from Curt or Terry rather than being on my own.

At this point the problems its had have all been worked out (knock on wood) and I expect to get a lot more use out of it. I know there are some issues lurking that people have had with the chips and such, and I'll just have to wait and see if I get bitten (I did replace my Dallas chip recently when I replaced the green tube).

I keep my eye out for a potential parts machine on ebay, craigslist, videogon and such. Ideally I'd like to find a local pickup for less than a grand. We'll see if that ever happens.

To me personally, auctions like this give me optimism that I'll be able to find one eventually. But I'm looking for a parts machine, not my dream projector. I've learned my lesson and would not buy a projector from a private party that I expected to use as my main machine, let alone picking one up from an auction where the people selling it dont appear to know what it is.

Here is a couple of pictures the seller sent me.

What's the availability and cost of G90 tubes anyway?

Casket. That's funny.

So, I'm guessing Curt decided to the up the ante won it. Even with freight, he'll have well under $1500 in this machine - obviously a great parts machine.

Congrats, Curt!

Wow. $1800+ replacement tubes and good <$5000 digital projectors are really trashing the value of these old beasts.
