$50 off a PS3 - TODAY ONLY

PS3's are never discounted so $50 off is actually pretty good. The price is the same everywhere you go due to Sony's pricing rules. This is Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the day. Today only.

Pretty good. The only better deal I've ever seen is the one I bought: $399 at Walmart, with a $100 gift card.

That is a good deal Gary. I've never seen anything other than the regular $399 price. Costco will sometimes bundle a game with it or something but that's about it.

Which version is it Walter? If it's the original version that also plays PS2 games, has 4 USB slots (not 2), has flash card readers, and plays SACD's you'll get more than that for it.

See here for the model types: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3

My 60 Gig original PS3 died last month and I bought a new 80Gig one the next day for $454 (taxes in). Got the 60 gig unit fixed and then sold it for $450. I didn't want to wait the 2 weeks and I don't need any of the extra features I used to have. So for $4 more than just getting it fixed I now have a 1 year warranty instead of only 90 days.

If yours is one of the old ones ask at least 400-450 CAD and sell it locally on UsedCalgary.com, Kijiji.ca, and/or craigslist. You'll get it. Mine sold in 1-2 days.

Kal

Hi Kal,

It has only 2 usb ports on the front and no flash card slots, 40GB. So I have no idea what it's worth but I thought all these older ones played ps2 games.

I also have a brand new spare drive unit if anyone needs one.

You have a model that people won't pay a premium for so you're probably right with your original asking price.

Well I can see I bought the thing just at the worst time. either side and I would have been making money. Oh well so be it.

So if anyone is looking for a good PS3 let me know, or needs a new drive unit.

Well, you'll still get a considerable percentage of your money back and the difference is certainly worth having Blu-ray for a year or two (or however long you had it).

Had you bought a "regular" set-top Blu-ray player, you'd hardly get anything for it if you went and sold it as things have changed drastically over the last couple of years in regular player models. The PS3 on the other hand hasn't really changed at all so it still holds its value. The only aberration is that some of the earliest units actually command a premium on the open market due to the PS2 backwards compatibility.

When I was looking for my PS3 60gb with the PS2 compatibility people were asking crazy money for them. I still paid more than a new PS3 would have cost me but this one does it all.
