That is sweet! Too bad it doesn't do 1080p or show support for MKV.

Buy one and let us know how it works!

I'm tempted considering that the shipping is US$3. Makes me wonder if these are already in the USA. Makes no mention of HDCP (protected content) handling.

Did you see this on engadget?

I don't know if it even handles audio over HDMI.

I would rather get a WDTV...people have been hacking it and setting up ethernet over USB so it can stream MKV files.

I submitted the following communication to them:

SATA HDD Multi-Media Player Adapter, Product Code: UCABL009600. I am trying to find the answers to a couple of questions I have in regards to this product. First, does the HDMI handle audio transport as well as video? Second, does the HDMI handle copy-protected content (content with HDCP)? I know of several folks interested in buying, but not before these answers.

And the Reply:

Thank you for your enquiry!

The HDMI will be able to transport audio and it support HDCP too.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Lawrence

I wonder what type of interface this uses? I didn't see any pictures but I'm guessing it has to have something similar to a media center to browse the folders and files. Right?

You could always follow the link, submit your question, and see if they can provide feedback in the form of screen captures.

You are commenting on a 15 month old thread. Don't you think you are a little late offering advice on alternatives? Smile
