There are some 1292 tubes on e-bay with no c-elements, you could use those i guess.

Dragan, i have a bunch of tube with the same pinout but the bell housing is like an LUG not the MEX/MFX tubes, not sure if the deflection coils would work on the thomas tube.

I would put up a crosshatch test pattern and look at the tube face through the c-element moving your head around to see if the round blob moves or the test pattern looks fuzzy. Most likely I'm wrong but that looks like fungus to me. Wink

It would also help to use the <cutoff> and find out what color makes it disappear. I have two nice sets of 1292 tubes minus the green C-elements and focus coils that I'm getting ready to list.

Thanks for all the suggestions. As I dont have the machine near to me I cannot try out most of them.
Anyway, the price has gone up way to high for my taste, therfore for me that story is over...

Mark,

what does 'Delam' mean?

Delam = delamination.

The phosphur is pealing off the inside of the tube face.

It's an unfortunately common issue with 1292s. Not every 1292 does it, but enough for me to know about it.

Hmm, too bad.

This seems to be a very strange wear pattern to me. I wonder what was projected to cause such a pattern. Especially since, according to the seller, there are only 900 hours on the tubes.
Are green tubes for the 1292 hard to find?

So long,

Daniel

I have a similiar type of defect on my CRT. The last 10-12 inches of the entire horizontal width has a completely different tone to the rest of the image.

I can't see anything on the actual green tube itself, however, it does pertain to the green tube as I've cycled through covering over the lens.

Here are a couple of photos I've taken:

I can only assume this is some type of phosphor wear, though I'm relatively new to CRTs so I welcome any thoughts.

Thanks for your time.

Paul.

Thanks for the prompt response Mark.

I can appreciate that, as most of my setup is from the same era, I've become used to and accepted.

I have to say it is a remarkable and impressive unit.

Cheers.
