Bah
Close enough, I've never seen a Marquee in person.
What's the difference? Is the 8500 an LC model?

Ok, that's close to what I thought.
Dragan, how can you pick the difference between an 8110 and 8500 from that picture?

You can see in the one picture that it doesn't have the stig board in the rear heat sink.
Couldn't it also be a later model 8000 ?

Despite what the back piece of metal says, I would be very surprised if its ACTUALLY a 9501LC.
Check the part number from the piece of paper on the top lens retention piece at http://www.etechvideo.com/techtip4.htm

I have a back trim piece that says 9000 but I didn't know it could magically transform the Tubes and optics to LC............... oh wait it can't.
| Mark_A_W wrote: | | Ok, it looks air coupled to me. | oh it sure is. As Paul said The 8500/9500 both AC and LC had the stig amp on the rear heat sink.
I think what spanky posted is pics of a pile of left-over parts.

I was going to say the lens housings were way different. They don't have that "submarine portal" effect with liquid on the other side. I'm curious as to what you have there. The lenses are way different too. Hopefully you can get a decent running projector out of it.

Look closer to the lenses that are on the projector. They look like they are LC lenses. The green is behind the the blue AC mount. It definitely look like a Frankenstein projector.
NM I just enlarged the photos and those are definitely Ac lenses.

I didn't mean to leave you guys (and gals) hanging. I wrote half a reply before I was summoned to see Angels and Demons friday night.
This was a pj that was advertised as a 9501 with a problem. When I got to the place to look at it, I was in a rush, but I figured I would give a cursory look and buy it. The owners were a family and I was dealing mostly with the son. As soon as I saw HD-8 and the 1995 sticker on the top of the crossmember, I knew I was in trouble. I took off one lens just to see how bad the wear was. Having spoken to the guy several times, I just didn't think he was trying to scam me. He encouraged me to come and look it over before I bought it. When I had the lens off, he didn't know the difference between AC and LC. He really didn't know what he had or he is a better actor than Ian McKellan. I debated whether to tell the guy that he owned an 8" pj that wasn't worth as much as he thought it might be.
I finally went ahead and told him. He was shocked. He told me that they had bought this pj off a guy and their new digital pj from the same person. Here is where it gets even more interesting. They knew enough five years ago to know that the 9501 was top of the heap. According to the owner they paid around $10k for this pj. I don't remember the pricing that well back then, but that sounds about right for a 9" with an 8" about half that price. The owner said the seller offered to give them $800 for the pj. I told them that even though they had been scammed that this was a great price for a non working 8" AC and not to say anything about it not being a 9501. The owner being slightly pissed didn't take my advice and confronted the seller. The seller gave an excuse that it took him time to find a pj for him. I actually gave the seller the benefit of the doubt and figured he may not have known it wasn't a 9501. He then said that the pj had some problems, so he converted it. I had to laugh at that one. Maybe you Marquee guys can fill me in, but I could only come up with the bellows as being an issue that would not be a common problem between models. Fortunately, the owner still owed the seller some money, so when it was all said and done they got back $1300 for the pj.
As for the seller, I won't out him. He is a member at AVS, but doesn't post a lot. I have met him and wasn't aware that he did installs and sales. He seems like a nice guy and maybe this was just a one time incident. Even if it was a one time incident, I think this takes the cake for biggest scam that I have heard of in the CRT hobby.

Anytime someone does something sh*tty then offers different versions of "why they did it" you know your dealing with a weasel and a Sheister. It's like that Gary guy who sold Curt the 9500LC, he couldn't even keep his own lies straight in the same thread. It's unfortunate but lickilly these types of people are few and far between

You didnt read well; they paid the guy 10 000 for it, and he was ready to buy it now back for 800.probably just to cover his previous dishonesty..

Spill it. We wanna know, and yes, no one else should be victim of a scammer. If a seller doesn't know what they have, then they should either do the research, or simply post that they don't know much about the unit.
