Yes Sunday should work....I wonder if they are not allowing advanced sales on weekends...That would be kind of crappy if true.

Ok how does like the 3pm/3:40 show sound? I'm sure I'll be able to get tickets online on Sunday. I'm always able to.
Lookin' foward to this one! I'll probably bring Parker with too.

Sounds good! I'll keep watching the website too for ticket sales.

Ha, I didn't make that connection but i'm sure it's more than a coicidence. Todays movie producers are moe savvy and they nkow if your going to do something like LOTR or Start Trek you better do your homework and be respectful of what was done before. People also enjoy these little details and it helps them to connect with the movie.

| Quote: | A digital version of IMAX started rolling out in 2008. The new system is a projection standard only; there are no digital IMAX cameras.
Digital IMAX systems can show either normal or 3D content in DCI or IMAX digital format (which in itself is a superset of DCI). Being a digital system alleviates the need for the use of bulky film reels and facilitate inexpensive distribution of IMAX features, the more compact nature of digital equipment means the system can fit inside a normal multiplex cinema complex rather than the specialised buildings IMAX normally requires.
Despite those advantages, one big disadvantage is the resolution of the picture is much lower than normal IMAX. The screens used by digital IMAX installations are also much smaller (28x58 feet) than those found in traditional IMAX cinemas. The digital installations have drawn some confusion based on poor consumer differentiation to the traditional 15/70 IMAX.[5]
Deals have already been signed with Hollywood studios for IMAX 3D features, such as "Shrek Goes Fourth 3D".[6]
IMAX digital currently uses two 2K-resolution Christie projectors with Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing technology alongside parts of IMAX's proprietary system. The two 2K images are projected over each other, producing an image that is potentially of a slightly higher resolution than common 2K digital cinema. Originally, IMAX had been considering using two Sony 4K projectors.[7]
IMAX recently signed a deal with AMC to start utilizing this new technology beginning July 2008[8] in the US. In December 2008 two digital screens were opened inside Odeon Cinemas in the UK[9] and three inside Hoyts Cinemas in Australia with a fourth to follow later in 2009[10]. |
You might want to check your theaters. I went to the AMC Aventura on Monday to watch Star Trek expecting real Imax. The screen was bigger than standard, but not huge. The sound was pretty good, but overly loud. The quality of the picture was maybe above average. It was definitely sharper, but the on/off sucked. Honestly, I was disappointed to pay an extra $4 over the regular price to get a debateable better movie experience. From now on, I will probably ditch my friends and go back to the AMC torus screens at the Mall of the Americas.
