Hi

I have a Marquee 8500 with a Moome HDMI card with gamma correction and a Lumagen HDP scaler. I read somewhere in this forum that would be a good idea to perform low level gamma correction with the scaler, nulling gamma correction on Moome card. I tried that and, I think, I ended with a smooth gamma bump on low levels. As everyone knows, lumagen scalers have a parametric tool to correct luma (gamma) and greyscale in 11 points. I take point 10 IRE to 2 IRE, point 20 to 4 and point 30 to 15, but now I'm concened about the correct values of Luma for the single point: I pushed 2 IRE to 12, 4 IRE to 13 and 15 IRE to 20. Low levels looks ok, but, simply, I don't know if this is the right way to go...
Any answers from you Lumagen experts?

the only way to tell for sure is with a high end colorimeter than can read the lower end really good and get the gamma curve. But the easiest way is to just use a scene with dark areas and make adjustments while watching the image to see if any of the shadow details are brought out. I like to use the scene in Aeon flux where she goes to break into the complex and attacks the guards on the roof. they have red thin tie's or strips on their uniforms. i try to adjust brightness and also use gamma to see the red clearly if its too dark you wont see the red.

Or use the one scene in Narnia Prince Caspian where the two girls are running into the train station and they pan over the the Lion statue, that corner is dark but there is details lost if the gamma is not right on the dark portion of that scene.

Thanks Athanasios, I have Narnia and I will follow your indications.
My concern is I have pushed too much low IREs, but I watched a lot of filmic material and don't see any artifact in low levels, so maybe it's OK!
