are these ONLY for levelling? My question is, if I need to get my image up, say, an inch or two (or more) Can I use these puppies to do the job, or will the resultant flapping adjustments (etc.?) cause some deleterious effects on my tubes? Or other effects I can't imagine as a noob? Questions:

1) how much leeway do I have to play with here?

2) does anyone know how high these things go? (save me the trouble of wrangling this 182 # beast...(:->)

As I recall the bolts on the leveling pads are no longer than an inch or so long. Need more adjustment I would shim. I would shim any ways as the pads seem to be more for fine adjustments. We are talking about floor mount right? They CAN NOT be used to hang at all, not even for one second. Well actually they probably would support the G70 from a ceiling for one second right before it comes crashing down and smashes everything underneath it Shocked

EVERY adjustment seems to have an effect on every other adjustment to some degree. You'll see it's a give and take in a big circle. Give a little here, go through all adjustments, recheck and then take a little there and then do it all over again Twisted Evil

Setting up a G70 is fun

mk,

Generally I'd say 2" shouldn't matter. What projection angle are you setup for?

Page 113 of the installation manual, the recommended projection angle(s) is -2deg. to +15.2deg.

Yes if you are out side the recommendation I'm sure scheimpflug (flapping) would be a problem as well as corner focus.

An inch or two is ok, but in general I would never lift the front of a table mounted CRT to raise the image.

Yes, it will work, and yes you can compensate for the optical focus with the flapping settings.

But you are using more keystone, making your image more trapezoidal, and using less tube face.

Thanks, great answers all.

to answer AFryia's question - I'm currently setup for 15.2 - assuming my floor is flat and I'm reading the manual right.

Mark AW - yes that does make sense. I would be concerned about using less tube face. Since I'm probably talking an inch or so... do you think that would mean a non-negligible shortening of the tube life?

Duh - it just occurred to me I could raise the adjusters in the back too and obviate any keystoning or flapping issues...

You're allowed to move the screen as well. I have a hanging screen and I have about 2" of room to move sideways & front to back and lots of room up and down. Keep the bottom level if you can.
