Hi,
In order to try to get rid of most of the streaking problem, I bought 3 RGB amps (from a BG801) and I would like to put them on my actual BG808. What are the steps that I have to do? I read somewhere that I need to swtich off the ABL (but at what stage of the process do I have to do it, and on which board is located this switch ?)

Before you go any further. There are two amps from the 801. R762173 and R7621735. The 735 has ABL and the 73 does not. Its best to use the 73 version. As I understand the problem if you use any RGB Ouput Amp with ABL (that is the 735) then you will most likely get the streaking problem (although not all ABL amps have the problem including those from the 808 series). To remove ABL is complex but if you search this forum you will find directions on how to do it.

I am looking at a 73 version right now it does not have ABL. Why do you think yours has ABL? Can you see an ABL jumper on them? If not they don't have ABL. Problem solved just remove the old amps and install the 73s and away you go. I am not aware of any other changes that need to be made if you are replacing R7621735.

I am not talking about a switch on these RGB amps, but there is another board which seems to have a ABL switch (on/off) that you have to disable. But which board is it?
After the remplacement, do I have to adjust the G2s?

The best person to ask is Ile. You should search this forum for his posts. There is another board as you point out but I believe once you change the amps to the 73 type ABL no longer works. As far as G2 is concerned you would need to adjust because of new amps. Look for Ile posts.

Vertical deflection board is still adding abl pulses to signal, it's good to turn it off from vertical board switch. Also G2 need to be adjusted after swap and turning switch. Use old black picture method for adjusting.
All 801 R762173 sheet metal amps are without abl.
801s have R7621735 amps with casted aluminium frame and abl. Few first (pre series) had 801 amps.

Corleone88, if you have any interest I am currently working on a fix for the streaking problem on the 808. I have an upgrade for the 1292 and am looking at the possibility of designing a signal board that will work in both applications 1292 / 808.

On the vertical deflection board, that may be stupid to ask but to turn it off, you move the switch to off? I remember that on the BG808, there is a switch that say the opposite of what it does. Is it not that one?

Turning switch to on position disables abl.

Project a video black image. Set the projector to D6500 in the color menu. Set brightness to 50 and Contrast to 0.
Look into the tube and turn the G2 pots until you can just see the raster lighting up.
Final adjustment should do to warmed up projector.

Ok Ile, I'll try to do that. But my worry is what do you mean exactly by "raster just lighting up" ?
Do you mean when the raster appears clearly, then I stop turning the G2?
Why do I need to look into the tubes? It doesn't work if I watch directly on the screen?
