Hi,

The neckboards are later model (either retro or 1208S/2), and the serial # on the yokes
looks like 114xxxx, which puts you somewhere in 1999 model year - unless some parts
have been swapped around? Do you have the 'coarse' convergence controls? or the
gamma functions? left side only geometry? Interesting puzzle!

Either way - it should be possible to get razor sharp focus with those tubes and lenses.

You may want to check on the lenses that you have travel in the adjustment beyond
the best point - ie not at the end of adjustment range. Just to be curious - what screen
size are you using?

Good Luck -

G

Yes my 808 is a puzzle Very Happy

So I swapped these elements:

1) R762746 Neckboards (from retrographics)
2) R7628085 defl.vert.+sync (from Zenith 1200)
3) R762720 RGB Driver (from 808s)
4) R762719 Analog input (from 808s)
5) R762518 Convergence driver (808s version)
6) Ver. 7.61 firmware (controller is the same but swap eprom 27C040 to 27C080)
7) Deflection & Focus yokes from 808s/E
8) Iris hardware

Do you get good focus with electronic mid point adjustment?

No Embarassed

I would want to make the better electric focus with the yokes.

I must seek other defl&focus yokes?

Maybe 808 focus yokes (R306664) work better with P16 tubes.

Deflection yokes should be same for Sony and MEC tubes.

808 or 808s?

I have got an 808s Graphics with LC and HD 18. The problem is the focus. I think, the focus yokes must more to the deflection yokes.

Greetings

Ile ... so I can try 180dvb22 focus yoke?
I have it but there isn't part number, there is this number KF-3203 K0125

On Barcos they have one focus coil where the magnets are reversed inside that one would have the KF3203G part number. make sure that one is on the green.
I found this out while doing the frankenyoke experiments for the maequee.

Yes yes ... I have two KF3203 and one KF3203G

Can I try these in my new P16 tubes?

I depends on what the Coils values are inside the magent structure. If the Inductance is close to your existing coils they should work. But you need an LCR meter to read the inductance value to make sure. You can try them not connected to see which gives best static focus. Then if you are up to it and prepared for lots of work you can swap out the coils from one magnet structure to the other.

I think so.

808 and 808s use same related boards (mobo, stig- and focus boards), so wiring must be same and values should be close. Maybe physical difference inside yoke for different gun structure?

I don't know ... dimensions are the same.
The focus yokes inside my 808 now are KF3205.

I never had a KF3205 to measure the value to compare to the KF3203.... I think the values might be in the
frankenyoke thread. let me have a look. But why not try it anyhow.

Barco KF-3205 KPK14 From a Barco 808s
Pin #
2-4 53.6uH 3.3ohms
3-5 294u H 0.95ohm
6-8 53.6uH 3.3ohms
7-9 294u H 0.95ohm

Those values are almost the same as the KF3203 after looking back over the frankenyoke thread. I think they should work, if its better or not we will have to see. the difference might only be the strength of the magnet structure between the two focus coils.

Nash, I have that set, and it has the 3205. I could send it to you for testing. I would like to see if you had them side by side if you thought they were better/worse.

Well I just checked them again. One set is the 3205 kpk14. The other set is 3205 kbp26.

I wonder if there is a huge difference between the 2 sets or not. The kbp26's are from my older set.
