I'm trying to adjust the mech. alignment on a Floor/Front g70. Realized that my "calibrated eyeball" may not be quite precise enough. I've got some ideas using plumb bobs, string, a level and a T-square, but read about using a laser. Any guidance on this out there?

OK... maybe I'm using the wrong terminology.

yes I have seen that but I'm more concerned right now with the PHYSICAL LOCATION of the unit, and making the green beam perpendicular to the screen, the face of the unit parallel to the screen and located 124 and 5/8 inches from the screen, etc.

that kind of mechanical alignment.

The same basic rules follow for the physical installation all CRT projectors. Only the manufacturers specifications (measurements) change. If you have the owners manual, you have all the information needed to install the projector.
Raster usage aside, the closer you stay to the manufacturers installation instructions, the better the results. Some projectors are more forgiving than others. NEC is not one of them.

Please don't assume you can fudge something and electronically adjust it out later. In many cases it will not work or if it does, can cause pre-mature failures due to overdriving the electronics.

Tom W. -- 3 words

"Awesome Instructions Thanks!!!"

Now, here's my problem. I'm adjusting green flapping. Since I'm a rank noob, focus on this puppy is a bit daunting.

I'm finding I need to adjust the "H" for green, instead of just V. Also the edge focus is out of whack. Even though everything measures up correctly - or at least as correctly as I can tell with my rudimentary instruments i.e. eyeball and tape measure - I'm wondering if this thing is square to the screen. It looks square, I need something more precise.

All of the info I'm getting from the forum is useful and helpful, but I don't see anything with explicit instructions and tools to square up the floor/front install.

TIA for any help.

A tape measure will work fine. Measure from the center of the top of the center tube. #1 distance to the screen. # 2 distance to the right side of the screen. # 3 distance to the left side of screen.

All measurements are to the bottom edge of screen.

As follows 118" in to screen center. right side 128" left side 127 3/4'.

This would mean you are out of square by 1/8". Half of the 1/4"Difference.

Your set up will of course be different. So as long as the left and right edges are equal at any given distance you are square to the screen.

To adjust the angles only push side to side on the back side of P/J.
