Hi everyone and Kal especialy. L.A from Spectracal asked me to pose here about the problem I am having
with calibrating my Marquee's. Related Post begin here in my Blend Thread.
http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=186148#186148
I think I may have a bad Probe but not sure.
I have Calman pro software version and have been using the default settings. Is there any special
setting i Should use Kal? If i do a quick grey scale set up by eye to begin the calibration with Calman
it looks good and very watchable but once i begin to use Calman everything goes wrong. the probe shows blue is way high and red and green very low, no matter if i raise red and green or just lower blue and then adjust red and leave green alone
i keep getting the same results, an image that looks very yellowish on the high end and a bit greenish brownish on the low end.
The PJ's are floor mounted so I even went to the lengths of fabricating a probe holder for my tripod that moved the tripod
off to the side of the 10% window pattern and allow me to position the probe dead center and angle it down to get as perpendicular to the light reflection off the screen from the lens.
What am I doing wrong or am I ok and it could be the probe. L.A said you might have more insight
since your a CRT guy. I have done great with my other probe and HCFR before I sold it.
This is making me feel like I am an Idiot, and its soo much easier to use.
My source is a LG Bh100 and Bh200 Blu ray player both have the same results.
I dont see how it be source related since the probe should read the fault, and i would not be able to
get better results using the grey scale setup technique here
than by using the probe.

Hmm, I'm not sure Athanasios. Other than the refresh rate it doesn't really matter if the projector is CRT or digital as you're reading off the screen (right?) and the probe has no idea what the source of the light is (digital projector or CRT). Now the DLP light wheel can cause some issues with some probes and the refresh rate of CRT can also cause issues, but nothing I've ever had problems with with my Display 2. Sorry!
Can you try reading off a different display just to see if it does something similar?

I tried it on my three marquee's that are in the theater. The two are on the floor in the blend setup and the old M 8000 that was calibrated by Craig Rounds, it tracks that one the same way. I have the printouts form craigs calibration and it
is way different.
I will try it on the laptops display that I have calman on. Oh I also tracked my Mitsubishi rear CRT TV and I thought it tracked it well till i found craigs charts on that also. It showed Blue way to high like on every other calibration.
I did get one quick reading on my right 8500 in the blend that seamed ok and then the next day i went to do the other one and it was all out of wack so i re-read the grey scale on the PJ i did from the night before and it was showing a major push in Blue across the entire grey scale. But if I have time tonight i'll check it out on the laptop display using the calman patterns.
