Other than seeing Draganm's 8500 the other day, it had been a couple of years since I had enjoyed the silky goodness that is a projected CRT image. I think I'm really going to enjoy having this set (especially when you take into account my whopping $150 investment in it). Right now the geometry is off by a fair margin on the edges, the focus needs to be tightened up a tad, and all of the convergence needs to be reset and re-done, but still it's a very watchable image as-is. It's very true what the CRT'ers say - there is a certain 3-D aspect to a projected CRT image that you just don't get with flat panel technology (at least the flat panel that I have).
I watched a documentary on the monuments in D.C. last night and was grinning the whole time. While not quite as sharp as my LCD, there was a depth to the image that my LCD has never had. It really enhanced the content and made this little project all the more rewarding.

Remember when they mass produce these boards they wave solder, the whole dam thing goes through a giant solder dunk tank.
