Item # 160324383002
It's mounted sideways in a garage, so I can only assume it's Phil's former G70. Good price if it is. Somebody needs to save this bad boy from the scrap pile. Phil, you want to give any lurkers some insight into it if it's indeed your old one?
Ouch! I just noticed in one of the pics that the red c-element is torched. Sun reflection perhaps?

Doesn't look like Phil's projector or garage to me... Or, the right locale, either.
$500 for a G70 wouldn't be bad at all if the tubes are good.

Yikes.... I was thinking of selling mine but if it's going to go for $500 I will certainly keep it.
I would rather just have it sit around here than to sell it for that.

Does any one know the button sequence to get to the hour clock on the G70? This guy does not know much about his machine and is six hours away from me and if the tube hours are not too high this is a once in a blue moon oppurtunity! No one messes with CRT down here in the south!

Found it! I just sent instructions off to him. let's hope he is motivated enough to use them! I have a mind to make a trip out there to check it out. It would only put me out of $50 to $75 of gas if it turns out to be toasted. Can you take the lenses off of an LC machine to see the condition of a tube face or is it a major operation?

IT's pretty easy but make sure you read how to remove the front bezel in the pics of the G70 in the tech. section here.

Take a flashlight with you, too. If you don't have some good light, and right into the lenses, it'll be difficult to see even moderate wear.

Brian, I wasn't implying that it will only sell for $500. I don't know what kind of shape it's in. But, given that pristine low-hour machines with no wear seem to be changing hands for around a grand (or less), that gives you an idea of their worth... Draganm could probably comment further if he's sold one or two in the last 6 months.

I wouldn't drive out there. If he is not willing to take the lenses off, then he isn't worth dealing with. I mean this is really a fifteen minute job. A pic of the tubes and a pic with the hours will give you a pretty good indication of the value of the pj.

Not sure what the hell I was thinking. I saw the TX part of the location, but didn't pay any attention to the town. Duh!!

Guys, the seller has a bunch more pictures that don't appear on the auction page. There's a link at the top of the auction: http://s602.photobucket.com/albums/tt109/noteven30/?albumview=grid

If Kiev is referring to the machine in the ebay ad, then the guy gave a link to a bunch of photos in the ad. The tubes didn't look bad at all, but the red c-element is trashed. Shoot, if I had the cash I would be all over this. Even though I'm a digi boy now, I've always wanted a G-70.

Not on the tube, that is what happens when the C-elements get exposed to sun through the lenses. Sunburn kinda melted the element.

A Marquee with warranty sells for more but I wouldn't pay more than $500. tops for that G70, even with pristine tubes. Just my opinion but you guys know how I feel about that particular model PJ. I say offfer him $400. cash and if it breaks there's that much there in parts so your pretty safe. Quite a few guy cannibalizing the Lenses, LC chambers, and C-elements for Barco conversions too.

I'm surprised to read that.Tell me more. what do you feel the G70 is lacking? Curt has it ranked in his top of the line category.

I'm looking at Item number: 250397195129 but it looks like someone took the specs from Item number: 360144410467 and just pasted them over. The first item is only a half hour drive away, but the guy hasn't responded to any of the questions I've submitted through ebay. Does this look like a scam?

The G70 can throw a beautiful picture, but it's not always the most reliable unit. Look at G90's for comparison: top-of-the-line picture, but it has several irreplaceable parts that are dying on it.
Dragan prefers bombproof, simple, easily repairable, and good parts availability. Marquees are much better for that.

I see. yes those are good considerations. Now that i think about it, i have not seen that many parts available for the G70's on ebay and what not. do you think it would be dificult to find a red C-element then?
