This is the coolest 1292 i have ever seen. the guy also boasts its the quietest on the planet.
its on the bay. Hope you dont mind this post curt but it's too cool not to talk about.
from the ad:
Now this isn't just a stock 1292. The only issue these projectors are accused of consistently is noise. There are 13 fans in this puppy and without a hush box that can be an issue. I have replaced them all with super quiet fans, more efficient, and re-clocked them to slower speeds, and they are heat sensing for speed too. The reduction in noise is over 20DB (minimum), which means this thing is now quieter than most CRT projectors. I have also damped the interior of the chassis, and if you look at the pictures, installed ducts and opened up vents all adding to better heat dissipation and quieter operation. This is the quietest 1292 on the planet.
It was mounted directly over the money seat in my theater and it was not intrusive at all. Notice the color? Automotive paint, 2 tone gloss black and dark silver, professionally applied with a lot of custom bodywork makes this the prettiest space cruiser on a ceiling anywhere. I spent over 800 bucks just painting the chassis, let alone the ducts, fans, temperature sensors, and a custom programmed control board to alter the fans speed based on temperature. Oh, and calibration. Oh, and a custom made set up manual I compled myself to lead you through the best set up possible.

He really should have a picture of the tube faces with lenses removed ot at least mention how the phosphor looks.
I've got a 1292 with that many hours and there's no visible wear... I don't know if they're the original tubes. But I think the 1292 is tuned low by default, so they don't get toasted like a lot of others.
The duct vents are unique. But unless they were hooked up to a remote push/pull supply/exhaust, are those really going to help any more than flush-mounted vents?

Yea, they look pretty cool, but I was also wondering if they have any actual purpose.

Was thinking the same... seeing as the seller obviously knows what he/she is talking about, I can't understand why there are no picture of the tubes.

That would mean the seller knows what he's doing. He knows that if he tries to sell it based on looks it's more likely to sell to someone that doesn't realize the tubes are probably toast. I'll admit it looks cool. I'm also thinking that maybe I should at least paint my case now.

You have to assume the tubes are really toasted since he avoided mentioning otherwise.
If the tubes are 7/8/9, he really screwed himself... that could make the difference between a $99 sale and a $799 sale.

I'm inclined to agree with you jester... knowing your business and not showing/mentioning tubes probably bodes for the worst.

What are the lenses worth on a 1292?? They are supposed to be pretty good.

They should be HD-10F lenses (old style), they are usually thought to be better than the HD-10-GT17 lenses but not as good as the lenses on the G90. Cost really depends on the day and buyer but I'd guess between $300-$600 a set.

Tube pics are up, blue is pretty worn, and you can see a little wear on the green.

went for $122.50. A buddy of mine bid $102 and decided he didn't want to drive to canada to pick it up and didn't want to pay $500 to ship it.

I e-mailed him back and forth last night. It sounds like a solid projector that needs new tubes.
Maybe Curt bought it for the unique "Fan mod".

Sounds like somebody got a good deal, especially if they can pick it up. Don't know what a blue tube would cost though...
