Hi, I am a newby and have had to buy ropes to help me ascend the steeeep learning curve, unfortunately I am having to ask for advice and help from more experienced people.

I know very little about AV systems, I got my 1st projector about 7 years ago, a Sony CRT and it has served me well but it was time to upgrade soI splashed out on a Barco 1209s. Here is where the fun begins.

I have a PS3 blueray player, a Lumegen HDQ processor, an HD fury, a Barco 1209s and lots of connectors and bits of cable Confused

How are you guys getting blueray at 1080p into a CRT projector at 72hz, every way I try I am coming up blank, what do I need to get to make it happen.

Any help and advice would be very welcomed, I am going balled trying Sad

Thanks a lot. Thumbs Up

PS3 to HDFury to Lumagen HDQ using the DVI input(you'll need a VGA to DVI-A connector) Set the DVI for analog 4:4:2 ,i think, input at 24p then output 1080p@72 via analog to your B 1209.

Thanks for that.

I have already got the ps3 to hdfury into input 4 via a dvi-i and have set the lumagen to dvi-a, I don't get any option regards input frequency though. Is there a sub menu I am missing anywhere? I think I get the general idea what's supposed to happen, the ps3 inputs to the fury ar 1080p/24hz, then analog to the lumegen then to the PJ at 1080 with the frequency trippled, am I on the right track?

Thanks for your help so far Very Happy

Have you tried dropping the resolution on the PS3 to 1080i? I ask because the PS3 by default outputs 1080p @ 60hz which is too high for the Lumagen chip to handle, it can handle 1080p 24hz fine but not 1080p 60hz and that refresh is not changable on the PS3.

Alternatively have you tried a PC? A PC can output 1080p @ 72hz and the PJ should lock onto that...

I'm sure I've read on here that most of the DVI chips cannot handle 1080p 60hz, too much bandwidth, over 165 or something like that...

Hi Karl Wink hush hush Laughing

The PJ can do 1080p at 72 hz no problem, Chris established that yesterday with his PC. I have the PS3 and X-box 360 set to 1080i and they work fine, I just can't see the point in having a projector that will easily handle 1080p/72hz and only using 1080i. Other problem seems to be when downscaling BD the picture is poor, vertical lines and jittery Mad

I have read other people running 1080p @ 72hz and was just wondering how others are doing it, I have been reading about the Moome carsd, problem here seems to be the Lumegen though. Maybe a set of cards off Greg would sort it Neutral

Any way, sorry to hear about your troubles Karl, especially after all the work and attention to detail you put into your room. Hope it all comes good for you soon Razz

the HDQ will do 1080p@72 via the RGBHV outs. i have done it, but i used the moome MUX-HD not the fury.

I also read the PS3 does 1080p@24 out. make sure your VGA to DVI -I cable is not faulty. it should work. aslo go into the HDQ menu and turn off the EDID. it might be messing things up. You shouldnt need it if the signal from the fury is analog.

Yes PS3 can output 1080p@24 but if its set to automatic rather than forcing 24p only and the PS3 is displaying its interface then it outputs 1080p@60 which the Lumagen cannot handle, if set to 1080i as the main output then you play a 1080p@24 Blu-ray the PS3 then switches to 1080p@24 and all is fine... that's what happened on my PS3 and Lumagen...

It could be a HDFury limitation, because the HDFury does not do anything to the signal, its straight through the Lumagen will de-interlace the 1080i to 1080p anyway..

See my last post about the PS3 switching, Chris and I noticed it when checking.

Be interesting to see if there is another solution...many are using a PC for their source

Hopefully getting a solution to my PJ issue this week Confused

Big up to Cris Frost (Lucid AV).

After many more hours than I thought it was possible for one man to work in such a short number of days we finally have it cracked and the results are breathtaking.

We finally have 1080p into the HD Fury and 1080p 72hz out Razz

The even more amazing thing is the well documented immage shift issues with the fury and it's associated distortion of the left hand side of the picture had been sorted, the picture is perfect, 100%.

I haven't had a chance to watch all of a film yet, Chris only finished at 10pm last night but the 45 minutes Blue ray and 15 minutes playing on my X Box were fantastic. Just a shame I have to go to work today now Sad

Again, huge thanks to Chris (and a big sorry to his family for keeping him away till so late) for all the hours hard work you have done, the results have really impressed. Your commitment to perfection is very rare thing to find and much apprecuiated.

I can't wait till tomorrow now when all my mates come over to watch films and play COD4 etc Twisted Evil
