Doublecheck all drivers - mobo SATA drivers, drive firmware, mobo BIOS firmware, anything low-level like that.

Find another computer (a friend's or something) and try the drive in there.

Find a SATA DVD drive and try that, like I suggested.

if it were that easy , there would be no problem.

i dont have the opportunity to do that.

i am hoping that when i get my desktop connected to the net and update the firmware i will be able to get it to go.
i will also try to flash the bios.

You could also try one of the SATA to USB adaptors.

I used the Gigabyte version with that chipset. I sold to a guy with the combo drive and Vista with zero problems. I just a got new FoxConn version with it too but haven't tried it yet, it was only 62 bucks. Im trying to put together the lowest cost full feature HTPC I can for my old RPTV.

from what i understand sata drives dont use jumpers,
it just has the power connector and the data connector. on the drive.

No, I am just wondering if it is software or hardware... I found early on that if I tried to play a disc before anydvd had finished I would get the" open tray or no disc" nag.
need to look into my setup as it was playing BR fine but will not allow me to play "Bolt" .... yet.

What do you mean "it starts then stops" ? does it go through the start of the movie then stop at the main feature? does the feature start then freeze up?
more info...
you are running anydvd right?

My $69 Sony worked flawlessly out of the box with AnyDVD HD running.

Is this an HDCP issue?

Can you explore the contents of the disc? When you click on "My Computer" do you see the drive?

it says on the screen stopped.
dont get any playback at all.

its so frustrating. Crying or Very sad

i am at tethers end at the moment, and am giving up with all this blu ray sh***t.

just so annoying.

I am assuming that you do not have a HDCP compliant display/videocard... if that is the case- you will not be able to play BR movie without AnydvdHD running on the system.
