Its got me wondering a bit since this was an ins. claim.....if maybe the guy didn't just want a new TV. I mean really......someone had to turn that switch off..............unless it was a kid playing and the grownups didn't know it.
But then.....why didn't the ins. co. want it looked at by a repair shop? Thats the usual procedure on a high dollar item. The ins. adjuster told me this was a 2500.00 tv new but I didn't ask if thats what they paid him. I was on a mission to grab and run before he changed his mind...

If you don't mind my asking, what do places usually want for this stuff? Hard bargaining, ten cents on the dollar, or do they just tell you to take it and be done with it?

I wanted to think about this question before i answered it. Because what I pay for stuff may not be what you would be able to get it for. I have feelers out all over the place for different kinds of stuff. People know me as the guy who pays cash for stuff. Just today I had someone call me to see if I wanted a 36" Panasonic HDTV that is dead, for free. I'm picking it up tomorrow. 2 months ago a friend called me and said that where he was working (he's a contractor) the lady was selling a brand new in the box Yamaha HTR-5280 A/V receiver. Shes going through a divorce and is selling his stuff. It was in the box, still wrapped with remote and documents. I said how much. He said 30 bucks. I said....BRING IT HOME WITH YOU, I'LL TAKE IT..... Last summer I had 3 boats in my yard. Point is, after a while, people contact you. Just like Curt with projectors.
But I also pass on a lot, lot, lot of stuff. Today I was also offered a Sharp Aquos, 42" LCD in perfect condition for 400 bucks. Good buy but I turned it down. But you will see what I did get today in my next post...

Well I was debating whether to post this or not because I'm sure you guys are getting bored with this thread, but this is suppose to be it for a few weeks until a new shipment comes in. I didn't even know about this load until today so it was a surprise to me as. So this is what my warehouse guy got me today..... Now mind you, I'm just trying to give you guys initiative to find this stuff because it is out there to be had....

THat's not even funny. Years ago, a local drive in theater had a weekly swap meet. THis was the late 1970s, I was in grade school. $4.00 got you in the door with as much junk that you could fit in your car, and you sold it in row and rows of cars. Good times. First time I cleared $16. HTe last time I went, I made over $200.
Anyways, I think I was there 8 times total. Somewhere in the middle, two cops are looking through all the stuff that this nerdy 14 year old was selling, and they found a Heathkit scope that someone had given me, it must have been from the 60s. Little did I know that serial numbers were important but because it was a kit, the s/n was on a sticker.. that I had peeled off. THe cops were only doing their job, but grilled me as to where I got all this stuff from. Never heard from them again, but yeah, beware of possible consequences if word gets out that there's this guy selling plasmas out of his barn type shed..

I hear that. I am always cautious when I'm buying. If its someone I dont know, I ask a lot of questions and sometimes just turn down the sale. About 4 months ago a guy I new, called me and asked if I wanted to buy some guns. I believe they were rifles and such but my first instinct was no, so thats the one I went with. Fortunately for me on these transactions I have a trail of proof back to the ware house. Also the guy has a good friend who is a state trooper, who was there yesterday helping with the load, in uniform, and asked me about buying one or 2. I said as soon as I check them out I'd let him know. Plus I know a majority of the sheriff deputies and the chief magistrate. I always find its good to have acquaintances in the right places....

Mac,
If you need me to pick up anything for you in Atlanta, then give me a ring. I have an Astro and can borrow my father's truck, so I can pick up pallets.
