LOL, you would think. But I've been at the ware house many times and just to give you an idea, the smaller ware house probably has at least 500 pallets already stacked and wrapped with stuff from house hold, tools, stereos, computers, toys, lawn and garden and whatever else. Believe me I have a hard time not buying stuff. A couple months ago they had pallets stacked about 4 to 5 foot high with power tools. Now remember these are new overstocked or returned. Some even had compressors, pressure washers, hammer drills and what ever other power tools you could think of. I think the price was 200.00 a pallet, IIRC. Another was stacked with stereos and speakers. I wanted that one but someone already paid for it and was returning to pick it up. They load the pallet in your truck or trailer for you. You can even buy a large truck load (60' I believe) for 5500.00. And one was all flat panels, computer monitors, microwaves crt tv's and I'm not sure what else.

The owner was going to sell me a 60" plasma or LCD for 100.00 but when I looked closer the inner panel was broken so I passed. The more I think about it, I should of taken it. That was before I had my inside man.

Yeah there are a few places here that re-retail that sutff. I bought an opend box Xbox360 Elite from one NIB, they just couldn't sell it as the box was trashed.

You know you COULD open a wearhouse/retail outlet of your own. With the $$$ slump on right now everyone's looking for a good deal.

Thats kinda what I'm thinking now. If I can get almost new flat panels for very little cost and sell then for half what the stores want, I should be able to make some money. This is some what like what i use to do in PA. I would acquire non working TV's for pretty much nothing, repair them and sell 19" for 75.00, 25" for 100 and 27" for 150 and 32's for 200 to 250. Use to make and easy 1 to 2 thousand a month as a part time thing and more so just for fun.... Smile

Hey, you guys want to start grabbing up some of these from your local places and I'll help if I can.

I already sent Curt some info on a local guy from him. Well we hope he's local. I dont think he heard back from him yet.

Where do you find these guys? If I could score a truckload of same-brand busted stuff I'd be in hog heaven... Only problem is I'm not near anywhere too major. I'm an hour and a half from Syracuse / Rochester NY (in Ithaca) - show me how to seek displays, o master! Mr. Green

How far are you from Batavia, NY?

Ya know, I wouldn't pass on secrets on where to snag stuff like this. Very Happy IT's really not that hard to find out where flat screens are junked at. Just follow the trail from the large resellers. Very Happy

I thought about that at first but then i thought..........why shouldn't some of my fellow CRT'ers be able to make some extra cash in these hard times. They are not really in my domain and it does take some effort to find the right place and person to deal with. So I guess you might say, I dont mind sharing the wealth. But I'm only sharing to my friends on here, which is why I'm only PM'ing any contacts I may find..........like your's Curt Mr. Green

Couple of hours. It'd be a bit of a trip, but if the aforementioned truckload is in the offing, could easily be worth it!

Ahhhhhhh...... today's acquisition. About 1 year old, 50" Hitachi plasma. Picked it up from a local insurance co.. They took it from customer after paying ins. claim. Was suppose to have had a power surge and then wouldn't turn on afterward. Boy would it be sweet if its only a blown fuse......... Smile

Oh, come on... now you're just rubbing it in! Even if the thing needs a new power supply you're only looking at a couple of hundred bucks usually. A busted plasma with an intact screen is like a pile of cash! Very Happy

But that's the point. It's not like it's a secret, I was being a bit sarcastic. Stuff like 'change part XXX to solve strange problem XXX... that's a bit more secretive, as people like you and I spend time, money and occasionally blow sh*t up to find defective parts.

But finding LCD/plasma carcasses... c'mon people, show some initiative! Mr. Green

I plugged it in the make sure it didn't work. Sure enough...dead. So I took off the back cover and find the A/C input board. I see the fuse and it looks good........hmmmmmmm. I look just to the left of the fuse and I see a thing on the board like an old computer switch. I see a plastic shaft coming off it going to the bottom, underneath of the case. I reach underneath and feel a square loose piece of plastic. I pushed it up and watched the switch latch.. Shocked Noooooooooo, it cant be................ plugged it in...hit the power button on the remote......... Shocked On it came............Couldn't hook up the DVD fast enough to see it on the screen....... Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Couldn't believe it my self.
