No offense Craig, but tell that to the people that are having problems. Plus, weren't there only like 1000 G90s made? You know of 10, but how many are there that you don't know of? If you have a G90, then run it till it breaks. If it doesn't, then great. If your in the market for a new 9" pj, then I would recommend one of the other brands.

None taken.
But I just don't think that a couple handfuls of dead YA boards warrants a mass panic. I've got lots of customer who have been running G90's for years and no one has had a bad YA board yet... except for one who I will be working for next month and he did get a replacement YA for the unit. You can get the YA boards still from John's source in Japan, and there are parts G90's out there for less than that. The G90 was never the economy CRT, and if you need parts for them they are expensive; that has never changed. If anything, parts are cheaper for G90's now than they have ever been... just like the rest of the other CRTs.

While you are correct that it should not entail a mass panic, if you are an owner then it would be of concern. The bigger problem is that there have only been a couple of handfuls of board problems, but is that the start or just outliers? I know Scott probably gets uncomfortable with me talking about some of our conversations, but I have to throw one of his comments out there. He mentioned that as CRT pjs get older the amount of issues with the electronics (bad caps, etc.) will increase. Like you said, the G90 was never the cheap CRT. I and others never thought the differences, if there were any, justified the premium. With that said, I still stand by my opinion above. Those in the market for a new 9" pj would be better off with a Marquee, Barco or Ampro.

Looks great.
Ever consider trying gamma of 2.5 instead oif 2.2? If you theater is in a totally dark room you may want to try 2.5.

I realize this thread has been dead since 2009 but since I'm getting a G90 tomorrow I figured I'd better bump it up to the top.
It has a Moome HDMI input card (Good!) and a broken blue tube (Bad!) but that's OK because I'm not exactly short on tubes right now....
I'm looking forward to taming this beast!

I have been running a G90 with LUG tubes for a couple of months, my last crt I sold in 2006 and was a Barco 909.
I am very pleased with the G90.
Looking forward to hear what you think.

I got it.
Condition is excellent, except for a broken blue tube. I'll replace the tube before doing any testing as the potential for a damaging
arc with a broken tube is extremely high.
