Honestly all the late model high 9" sets look pretty close in performance if they have the same tubes, c elements (color filtering) and lenses . I have seen a 1209s and 909 side by side and the 909 was better but not by a whole lot especially on video. As for patience you don't want to know how many years it took me to find a 9" deal at a price I liked. That said the market has changed a lot in the last two years and may do so more in the next 12 months or so. With my new tube cost included I am a bit below your limit and have a spare chasis to boot (it has one or two boards that needs some work).

Yes it has, and in the 2 months I've been looking it is falling around me. I have a lead on a 9500 aka Vision One for $1200.00 with 6500 hours on tubes that I posted a while back. The seller is "re -evaluating his priorities ".
So who knows?

It's the sound you make the first time your try to move a CRT projector by yourself.
Bent over hand on the handles Moo, or more like Mhhuuuoooo followed by "Huff, damn, huff, these, huff things, huff are, huff heavy!"

Honestly for that price I would go for an LCOS projector and install myself. You aren't going to beat the plug and play of a digital with any CRT and since you are a cheap bast--rd like me if you did go CRT you would probably get one from somebody else and it might need some work like my Runcos did. I would see the G90 and then maybe at the same time swing by a few HT shops in DC to see some digitals at work. Or maybe go over to AVSForums and see if there are some digital owners around and about you to see them in action and then make your decision.

Man get out of my head. That is the plan the 7500UB is 3 chip LCOS. And J/S audio, Meyer Emco and Gramophone are on the list of places to go while near D.C.

Sounds like a plan but note that the 7500UB is an LCD projector not LCOS. LCOS is generally credited with coming the closest of a CRT image of all the digital technologies. Sony and JVC are the primary producers of LCOS I believe. This wikipedia article should explain the differences between LCD and LCOS (they both use liquid crystal but in different ways).

Why don't you hook up with Mark Haflich? He is in MD somewhere. He posts over at AVS and used to have a 9500. I am not sure whicch digitals he has in his showroom, but you could at least get a look.
